Mein heutiger Test verlief erfolgreich! Der Helm hat gehalten, wie er sollte und meine Uhr hätte die Alarmkontakte alarmiert. Da habe ich den Test aber abgebrochen, ich wollte niemanden erschrecken. 

In meiner Hütte habe ich gut geschlafen, obwohl es recht kühl war. Es hatte aber genügend Decken und vor dem Aufstehen habe ich noch die Elektroheizung eingeschaltet. Meine Nachbarn, ein paar Hühner, waren auch ruhig bis ich um 7 Uhr aufgestanden bin. Erst da wurde es langsam hell. Auf dem Gelände war alles ruhig und auch die Gastgeber waren bis zu meinem Start um 8 Uhr nicht zu sehen. Schade, ich hätte mich gerne bedankt für den etwas abenteuerlichen Aufenthalt, das willkommene Begrüssungsbier und die fantastische Kürbissuppe, die mir die Gastgeberin am Abend noch kostenlos angeboten hat. 

Erstmals musste ich etwas zurück fahren, um auf die richtige Route zu kommen. Über den Kanal zu kommen, ist ohne Brücke sehr schwierig. Mein erstes Zwischenziel war Saint Gilles. Dort habe ich schon einige Male ein Hausboot gemietet. Und genau dort bin ich auch vorbeigefahren. Danach fuhr ich weiter dem Kanal entlang, was aber keine offizielle Veloroute ist. Mehrheitlich war der Weg mit flachem Gras überzogen, was zum fahren sehr angenehm war. Immer fuhr auch ein kleiner Zweifel mit mir mit, ob ich schlussendlich wieder auf die normale Strecke zurückkomme. Und tatsächlich hatte ich auf den letzten Metern Glück, denn da war eine Baustelle, die man gemäss Schildern nicht durchfahren dürfte. Bestimmt haben das auch vor mir schon Hunderte gemacht, sonst hätte ich tatsächlich ein paar Kilometer zurückfahren müssen. Leider ging es danach auf einer Hauptstrasse weiter, was dank dem Seitenstreifen gut ging. 

Kurz vor Beaucare tauchte plötzlich zwischen Bäumen eine moderne Kathedrale auf, die sich dann aber bald als Zementfabrik entpuppte. In Beaucare selbst erkannte ich am Hafen, dass ich hier auch schon mit dem Hausboot war. 

Ab hier ging’s erneut lange einer Hauptstrasse entlang, doch auch hier gab es einen breiten Seitenstreifen. Erst nach dem überqueren der Rhone kam ich erneut auf einen schönen Radweg. Die Breite der Rhone hat mich erstaunt. Im Vergleich zu Genf ist er hier gewaltig. 

Auch gewaltig waren für mich 2 riesige Eisenbahnbrücken, die über die Rhone führten. Ich nehme an, dass es sich um Linien vom TGW handelt, also um einen Hochgeschwindigkeitszug. 

Bei Avignon fuhr ich dann selbst über eine Brücke mit einem wunderbaren Ausblick auf die berühmten Gebäude von Avignon. Insbesondere sind die päpstlichen Residenzen zu erwähnen. Ab 1307 war hier der Sitz für 7 Päpste bis es dann zurück nach Rom ging. 

Da ich in meine Residenz, vom 19.9. - 30.9.2024, erst nach 15 Uhr einchecken konnte, schlenderte ich ein wenig durch die Altstadt. Dabei wollte ich im Stillstand nach hinten schauen. Dabei drehte sich das Vorderrad, was das Rad aus dem Gleichgewicht brachte und mich gleich damit.

¡Mi prueba de hoy fue exitosa! El casco se mantuvo como debería y mi reloj habría alertado a los contactos de alarma. Pero detuve la prueba porque no quería asustar a nadie.

Dormí bien en mi cabaña, aunque hacía bastante fresco. Pero había suficientes mantas y encendí la estufa eléctrica antes de levantarme. Mis vecinos, unas cuantas gallinas, también estuvieron callados hasta que me levanté a las 7 de la mañana. Sólo entonces se hizo claro poco a poco. Todo estaba en silencio en el lugar y no se pudo ver a los anfitriones hasta que comencé a las 8 a.m. Es una pena, me hubiera gustado agradecerles por la estancia un tanto aventurera, la cerveza de bienvenida y la fantástica sopa de calabaza que la anfitriona me ofreció gratis por la noche.

Por primera vez tuve que retroceder un poco para tomar la ruta correcta. Cruzar el canal es muy difícil sin un puente. Mi primera escala fue Saint Gilles. He alquilado una casa flotante allí varias veces. Y ahí es exactamente por donde pasé. Luego seguí por el canal, que no es una ruta ciclista oficial. La mayor parte del camino estaba cubierto de hierba plana, lo que resultaba muy agradable de conducir. Siempre tuve una pequeña duda sobre si finalmente podría volver a la ruta normal. Y en los últimos metros tuve suerte porque había una obra en construcción por la que, según las señales, no se podía pasar. Estoy seguro de que cientos de personas lo han hecho antes que yo; de lo contrario, habría tenido que retroceder unos kilómetros. Desafortunadamente, continuamos por una carretera principal, que estaba bien gracias al arcén.

Poco antes de Beaucaré, apareció de repente entre los árboles una catedral moderna, que pronto resultó ser una fábrica de cemento. Ya en Beaucaré me di cuenta, en el puerto, de que ya había estado aquí en la casa flotante.

A partir de aquí había otro largo camino por la carretera principal, pero aquí también había un arcén ancho. Sólo después de cruzar el Ródano me encontré de nuevo con un bonito carril bici. La anchura del Ródano me asombró. Comparado con Ginebra, aquí es enorme.

También fueron enormes para mí dos enormes puentes ferroviarios que cruzaban el Ródano. Supongo que se trata de líneas del TGW, es decir, de un tren de alta velocidad.

En Aviñón pasé por un puente con una vista maravillosa de los famosos edificios de Aviñón. Mención especial merecen las residencias papales. Desde 1307 fue sede de siete papas hasta que regresaron a Roma.

Ya que voy a mi residencia a partir del 19 de septiembre. - 30 de septiembre de 2024, no pude registrarme hasta pasadas las 15:00 horas, así que di un paseo por el casco antiguo. Quería mirar hacia atrás mientras estaba quieto. La rueda delantera giró, lo que desequilibró la bicicleta y a mí con ella.

My test today was a success! The helmet held as it should and my watch would have alerted the alarm contacts. But I stopped the test because I didn't want to scare anyone.

I slept well in my hut, even though it was quite cold. There were enough blankets though and before I got up I turned on the electric heater. My neighbors, a couple of chickens, were also quiet until I got up at 7 a.m. Only then did it slowly get light. Everything was quiet on the site and the hosts were not to be seen until I set off at 8 a.m. It's a shame, I would have liked to thank them for the somewhat adventurous stay, the welcome beer and the fantastic pumpkin soup that the hostess offered me for free that evening.

First I had to drive back a bit to get on the right route. Crossing the canal is very difficult without a bridge. My first stopover was Saint Gilles. I've rented a houseboat there a few times. And that's exactly where I drove past. Then I continued along the canal, which is not an official cycle route. Most of the path was covered with flat grass, which was very pleasant to cycle on. I was always a little doubtful about whether I would eventually get back to the normal route. And I was actually lucky in the last few meters, because there was a construction site that, according to the signs, you were not allowed to drive through. I'm sure hundreds of people had done that before me, otherwise I would have had to go back a few kilometers. Unfortunately, I then continued on a main road, which was fine thanks to the shoulder.

Shortly before Beaucare, a modern cathedral suddenly appeared between the trees, but it soon turned out to be a cement factory. In Beaucare itself, I realized at the harbor that I had already been here with the houseboat.

From here, I went along a main road for a long time, but here too there was a wide shoulder. Only after crossing the Rhone did I come across a beautiful cycle path again. The width of the Rhone amazed me. Compared to Geneva, it is enormous here.

Also impressive for me were the two huge railway bridges that crossed the Rhone. I assume that these are lines from the TGW, i.e. a high-speed train.

In Avignon, I drove over a bridge myself with a wonderful view of the famous buildings of Avignon. The papal residences are particularly worth mentioning. From 1307, this was the seat of seven popes until they returned to Rome.

Since I couldn't check into my residence from September 19th to September 30th, 2024 until after 3 p.m., I strolled a little through the old town. I wanted to look behind while I was standing still. The front wheel turned, which threw the wheel off balance and me with it.
