Hej, ab in den Süden

Immernoch überwältigt

Vor ziemlich genau zwei Wochen stand ich am nördlichen Rand von Europa. Ich kann noch gar nicht glauben, wie viele Kilometer ich gefahren bin, wie viel Tränen, Ängste, Erstaunen, Aufregung, Sprachlosigkeit, Verwunderung, Unglauben, atemberaubende und herzerfüllende Momente ich erlebt habe.

Ich bin immer noch dabei, alles zu verarbeiten, was auf meinem Weg bisher passiert ist. Als ich mich nun auf den Weg „zurück“ in den Süden machte, konnte mein Gehirn nicht mehr wirklich Neues, Aufregendes aufnehmen.

Ich würde mich mit meiner lieben Freundin Julia in Luleå an der Nordostküste Schwedens treffen. Für die etwa 850 km, beschloss ich, meinen Weg durch den nördlichen Teil Finnlands zu nehmen.

Finnland

Hier änderte sich die Landschaft um 360 Grad. Keine spektakulären Berge mehr, keine endlose Weite, keine tiefen und steilen Fjorde und keine kurvigen Wege. Stattdessen eine gerade, flache Straße mit nichts als kleinen Bäumen und Büschen rechts und links. Das mag vielleicht ein bisschen langweilig klingen, aber für meinen Geist und meine Augen war es die Entspannung, die ich brauchte.

Finnland sollte also der Beginn einer „Erholung“ für meinen unruhigen Geist sein, um alles in mir zu strukturieren und zu verarbeiten.

Ich fand noch einige Wanderungen und schöne Fotospots, ich besuchte eine Goldmine und hatte 2 entspannende Tage auf einem Campingplatz mit Sauna.

Not alone anymore

Dann war es an der Zeit, Julia am Flughafen Lulea abzuholen. An diesem Tag überquerte ich gerade die Grenze nach Schweden. Erster Anblick - IKEA. Sehr klischeebehaftet und trotzdem lustig.

Es stellte sich heraus, dass die Witterung endlich warm werden würde. Ich hatte keine wärmeren Temperaturen als ca. 15 Grad am Tag und teilweise zwischen 0 und 5 Grad in der Nacht.

Unser erste gemeinsamer Campingspot kam auch gleich wunderschöne daher. Am Ufer eines Meerarms konnten wir beim Abendessen außen sitzen und ich konnte endlich eine schöne Runde auf meinem Stand-Up-Paddle im Sonnenuntergang drehen.

Zu dieser Zeit wussten wir noch nicht, was die nächsten Tage auf uns warten würde…

From North Cape to Sweden

Exactly two weeks ago I was standing at the northern edge of Europe. Still don’t believe how many kilometers, tears, fears, amazements, excitements, speachlessness, wonderings, don’t believings, breathtaking, heartfilling moments have happened.

I’m still processing all that came along my way. 

Since then when I started my way „back“ to the south, I was not really able to take any more excitements into my brain.

I was going to meet my dear friend Julia in Luleå, at the north eastern coast of Sweden. The about 850 km, I decided to take my way down in the north part of Finland.

Here the landscape changed 360 degrees. No more spectacular mountains, no more endlessly whideness, no more deep and steep fjords and no more turns right and left along the road. Instead a straight flat street with nothing but small trees and bushes right and left. It might sound a bit boring but for my mind and my eyes it was the relaxation I needed.

So Finland was going to be the beginning of a „recovery“ for my unsettled mind, for structuring and processing everything inside of me.

I still did some hikes and found nice photo spots, I visited a goldmine and had 2 relaxing days at a campground with two evenings of sauna.

Then it was the time to pick up Julia at the Lulea Airport. I was just crossing the border to Sweden on this day. First sight - IKEA. Very Klischee and still funny.

It turned out, the waether would finally become warm. I didn’t have warmer temperatures than 15 degree since, I don’t now maybe last summer? The nights where sometimes going down to 0-5 degrees.

So beautiful was our first camping spot at a lake, with sunshine, we could sit outside and I finanlly used my Stand-Up-Paddle for a little journey towards sunset.

This time we didn’t guess what would expect us the following days….
