Strecke 108 Kilometer, kum. 457 Kilometer | Höhenmeter 940, kum. 1‘790 Meter, Entfernung von zuhause 381 Kilometer (Luftlinie)
Bereits liegt mein vierter Reisetag hinter mir.

My fourth day of travel is already behind me. All four days were full of sunshine, although it was cold and often very windy. Even a headwind requires energy from me and the bike, but around 100 kilometers are always within reach.
The apartment in Wixhausen was excellent, and I slept wonderfully. So I was able to set off shortly after 8 a.m., refreshed and invigorated.
Germany has many cycle paths. Today, I even discovered cycle streets within towns. Cars are allowed to drive there, but I assume cyclists have right of way. Right at the beginning, outside of Wixhausen, I even rode on a cycle highway. This runs from Darmstadt to Frankfurt, about 30 kilometers. I think you can often get there faster there than by car. Unfortunately, for me, it was only a short stretch.
After that, I continued along the Main River until, after about 30 kilometers, I came to a ferry, which took me to the other side of the river for one euro. Afterwards, the route climbed to a high-altitude trail with numerous wind turbines and a beautiful view. Unfortunately, the path was suddenly blocked due to road construction. But where there's a will, there's a way. Adventurous, it was certainly doable for me alone.
From this point on, the bike paths were mostly off-road, with only occasional detours onto the road for short stretches. Towards the end of the tour, the route continued gently uphill along a former railway line. I had already encountered such trails in Spain last year. For cyclists, it's a fast and relaxing way to travel.
At the very end, my route finally led me onto forest paths, as this route was somewhat shorter. However, I doubt it was actually any faster.
