Willkommen am Ende der Welt. Allein der Name "Tierra del Fuego" (Feuerland) klingt so abenteuerlich, dass ich mir diesen Teil Argentiniens nicht entgehen lassen konnte. Ich kann schließlich behaupten in der südlichsten Stadt der Welt (Ushuaia) gewesen zu sein und bis zum Ende der Ruta Nacional 3 gewandert zu sein. Mein Hostel besitzt eine andere Sichtweise, denn es behauptet nicht am Ende der Welt sondern am Anfang zu liegen, man müsse nur den Globus umdrehen. Im Sommer gibt unendlich viele Möglichkeiten Wochen in der Natur, in den Bergen, an Seen etc. zu verbringen. Aufgrund der Nebensaison (Winter) waren jedoch viele Wege unzugänglich, sodass wir uns auf eine Tageswanderung im Parque Nacional de Tierra del Fuego und je eine Tageswanderung in El calafate und El chalten mit dem Parque Naconal de los Glaciares beschränkt haben. Die Natur hier ist unbeschrieblich. Auch wenn in der Nebensaison keine Pinguine zu sehen sind, so war es trotzdem möglich Falken, Robben, Spechte, Füchse und Cormorone zu sehen. Sogar die Möwen sehen hier mit ihren knallroten Schnäbeln abenteuerlich aus.

In Ushuaia habe ich eine Ungarin kennen gelernt. Ihre Reiseroute entspricht in etwa der meinen, sodass wir gemeinsam weiterreisen. Aufgrund des Wetters sind fast alle Restaurants geschlossen und die berühmte Routa 4 ist gesperrt. Wir hatten geplant via Route 4 in Richtung Bariloche in den Bergen zu reisen, mussten unseren Weg jedoch an die Küste verlagern. Insgesamt ist das Reisen leicht eingeschränkt. Die schlechte Wirtschaftslage des Landes und der Druck der aufgrund der im Oktober anstehenden Wahlen auf Politiker ausgeübt werden soll, führt immer wieder zu Streiks von Staatsbeamten, was alle öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel miteinschließt. Die Banken machen uns das Leben nicht einfacher. Geld abgehoben werden kann nur unter einer Gebühr von 5-10€ und der maximale Betrag von umgerechnet 100€ kann nur an jeder 5ten Bank ausgezahlt werden. Argentinien ist ein starkes, stolzes und tradizionelles Land. Es tut mir Leid zu sehen, dass die Wirtschaft den Menschen das Leben so schwer macht. An jedem Ort den ich bereise erwarten mich denselben Fragen: "Wie heist du? Woher kommst du? Wie lange reist du schon?" sodass ich mich ein wenig nach einer konstanten Komponente sehne. Ein paar Tage nicht aus einem Rucksack leben, ein paar Tage ohne neue Orientierung, neuen Stadtplan, neues Hostel, neue Leute. Zeitgleich erfahre ich von mehr und mehr Orten die ich "unbedingt" gesehen haben muss und habe das Gefühl meine Zeit hier ist viel zu knapp berechnet.

Unsere Küstenrute führte uns nach Puerto Madryn, wo wir Waale sehen konnten und mit Robben schnorcheln / tauchen. Um uns zu organisieren bleiben wir hier eine Nacht länger bevor wir nach Salta im Nordwesten Argentiniens weiterfahren.

Welcome go the end of the world. The name "tierra del fuego" (land of fire) itself sounds so adventurous, that i could not skip this part of Argentinia. Now I can say, that i have been to the most southern city on earth (Ushuaia) and that i hicked until the end of the national route 3. My hostel had a different point if view. It states that its not located at the end of the world but the beginning. All you have to do is turn the globe around. In summer, there are endless opportunities to spend weeks or months in nature between endless lakes and mountains. Since it s low season (Winter) most paths are unaccesible, so we reduced our hicking expeditions to a day tours in the Parque Nacional de Tierra del Fuego, El calafate and El chalten with the Parque Naconal de los Glaciares. The nature here is unbelievable. Even though it was not possible to see pinguins in the low season, we were able to see falcon, seals, woodpeckers, foxes und cormorones. Even the sea gulls here look quite adventurous with their red beaks.

In Ushuaia I met an hungarian girl with a similiar travel route than me. We will continue our trip together. Unfortunately, due to the low season and the weather almost all restaurants and the famous route 4 which we planned to toake towards Bariloche in the mountians is closed. Se had to skip this place to take a detour via the coast. In general travelling has its limits. The bad economic situation of the country and the upcoming elections in octomber lead to strikes of people paid by the state, which includes all public transport methods in the whole country. The banks don't make our life easier neither. Withdrawing money is only possible with a fee of 5-10€. Furthermore, the maximum amount of 5000 Pesos (about 100€) is not availbe in 4 out of 5 bancs. Argentinia is a strong and proud country and i feel sorry for the people, whose life is getting more and more difficult due to its economy. In every place i travel to the same questions await me "What's your name? Where are you from? How long have you been travelling for?" I am starting to miss a constant component. Some days not living out of a backpack, some days without new orientation, without a new city map, without a new hostel, without new people etc. On the other hand i hear from more and more places that i should visit on my way and i feel my time slipping through my fingers.

The trip via the coast led us to Puerto Madryn where ww watched some whales and did some snorcheling with seals. We ll stay an adidtional night to organise our further trip to Salta in the northeast of Argentinia.
