Like other villages in this region Frutillar was founded by immigrants from Germany. Austria and Switzerland. The local museum Historio Aleman is nice to visit – gives a view of the “Good Old Times”, which weren’t always that nice. The hotel “Salzburg” is recommended in our tour guide, also having their own micro brewery.
Frutillar is on the shore of Lago Llanquihue with exceptional view of volcano Osorno.
We take the (gravel) road along the shore of the lake on our way to Argentina. Shortly before the border we have a walk to the “Salto de Indio” – no circus show, but simply a waterfall.
