Tag 7: Wellington

Heute ist ein grosser Tag für die All Black Fans denn ihr Team spielt heute gegen Südafrika. Um wirklich dazu zu gehören habe ich mich kurzerhand dazu entschieden eine All Blacks Jacke zu kaufen. Um die Stadt von einer anderen Perspektive zu betrachten fahre ich mit einem Cable Car den Hügel hinauf. Von hieraus hat man einen wunderschönen Ausblick über Wellington. Man kann sogar einen kleinen Sandstrand sehen. Eine Sache welche in Neuseeland wohl immer vorhanden ist, ist Wind.

Da ich etwas müde bin gehe ich zum Hostel zurück um Energie für den Abend zu tanken. Ausserdem ist dies eine gute Gelegenheit die Regeln eines Rugbyspiels zu studieren. So ganz sind ist mir ja noch nicht klar wie sich die Punkte ergeben. Jedoch ist meine Taktik sowieso die, dann zu jubeln wenn die meisten anderen Leute jubeln.

Obwohl ich Trish, der Neuseeländerin vom Flugzeug, geschrieben habe bekomme ich keine Antwort. Das war dann wohl ein Reinfall. Allerdings stört mich das eher wenig. Ich mache mich auf den Weg zum Stadion und setze mich auf meinen Platz. Ich habe eine gute Sicht auf das Spielfeld. Die Stimmung ist jetzt schon der Hammer. Als die Neuseeländischen Spieler ihr Haka (sozusagen ihr Schlachtruf) wiedergeben läuft es mir kalt den Rücken herunter. Die Emotionen im Stadion sind überwältigend. Der Halbzeitstand beträgt 17 - 24 für die Südafrikanischen Springboks. Ist dirs wirklich möglich? Die „All Blacks“ haben tatsächlich verloren. Sie unterliegen Südafrika mit 36 - 34.

Today is a big day for all the „All Blacks“ fans cause their team is playing against South Africa. To really be a part of this event I decided to buy myself an „All Blacks“ jacket. To see the town from another angle I take a cable car up the hill. From here u have a beautiful view over Wellington. U can even see a little sand beach. Looks like there is one thing that always follows u around New Zealand and that’s the wind.

Because I’m a little tired I go back to the hostel to get some rest and fill up my energy for the evening. It’s also a good opportunity to study the rules of a rugby game. To be honest I‘m still not really familiar with how points are scored. But my strategy is to cheer when almost everybody else is cheering.

Even though I texted Trish, the New Zealander from the plane, I don’t get an answer from her. That was a fail. But honestly, I don’t really care about that. I‘m on my way to the stadium and get seated. I have a great view on the field. The energy is already pumping. As the kiwi players perform their Haka (their battlecry) I get the shivers. The emotions in the stadium are overwhelming. The halftime score is 17 - 24 for the South African Springboks. Is that really possible? The „All Blacks“ have indeed lost. They get beaten by South Africa with the scores of 34 - 36.
