Taroko Nationalpark

Die letzten zwei Tage habe ich in Hualien bzw. dem Taroko Nationalpark verbracht. Taroko Gorge ist wirklich traumhaft schoen! Es gibt viele schoene und recht einfache Wanderwege, die Flora ist sehr tropisch und es gibt tausende verschiedene Schmetterlingsarten (leider aber auch Giftschlagen, auf die ich zum Glueck nicht getroffen bin...). 

Ich war vor allem auf dem Shakadang Trail und dem Baiyang Waterfall Trail unterwegs. Der Shakadang Trail fuehrt durch eines der Taeler im Nationalpark entlang des Shakadang River. Der Weg ist einfach und es bieten sich sehr viele schoene Blicke ins Tal und auf den Fluss durch den kristallklares Wasser fliesst. 

Der Baiyang Trail ist etwas abenteuerlicher, zumal man durch einige stockfinstere Tunnel laufen muss. In den ersten (den laengsten von vielleicht 200 m) bin ich schnurstracks reingelaufen, ohne Taschenlampe. Nach 50 m wurde es dann doch etwas unheimlich. Am Ende des Weges wurde ich aber mit einem atemberaubenden Blick auf gleich mehrere Wasserfaelle belohnt.

I spent the last two days in Hualien and Taroko Nationalpark. Taroko is a GORGEous (very proud of this pun:) place! There are lots of easy hiking trails through tropical flora with thousands of beautiful butterflies (and poisinous snakes, which I luckily did not encounter).

I have mainly been hiking on Shakadang and Baiyan Waterfall Trail. The Shakadang Trail leads through one of the valleys along the Shakadang river. It offers beautiful views of the valley and the river.

The Baiyang Trail was a little bit more of an advanture for me, since one has to pass through various pitchblack tunnels. I walked straight into the first and longest one without a flashlight, just to realize after 50 m that this would not be as easy as I thought - and pretty scary! But at the end of the trail I was rewarded by a beautiful view of several waterfalls.
