26.10.2018 2days in hong kong

                          Tourist 

 Today I had booked a tour through hong kong with a hop on and hop off bus. I like to explore cities by myself but since I am only going to be here for a short time I thought I could give it a try.

I got up early to make sure I get there in time. The hallway and the reception area outside my room where still dark. Even when I got outside it was surprisingly still a lot darker then I had expected.

But it got bright quick as I walked through the lot less chaotic streets towards the ferry. Because the meeting point for the tour was on the other side of the river. I arrived at around 08:30, an hour before the meeting time. So I went to a near starbucks and got some breakfast.

I waited around for a bit at the meeting point since it did say that you had to arrive 30minutes early. But nothing happend. It was meeting time and nobody was here. I started to walk around and found a information center from the same tour that I had booked. But it was closed. I walked around some more and searched until about 10:30. Then I decided to just walk to the first attraction, the peak tram. There I could enjoy the attraction and wait for the bus to arrive since it had to come through here.

After a longer walk I arrived at the peak tram but when I showed the guy at the counter the booking I made he just told me in pretty basic english to wait until the counter on the other side opens. Which I thought was a little weird since I had the ticket and it was already close to 11am. So after waiting a bit I asked again and he told me to just wait until 10. So I showed him my phone "but its already been 10!"

"No" he said and showed me his watch and there it was 9:00....

God sometimes I can be such an idiot. I completly forgot to change the time zone when I arrived here. No wonder it was still dark outside! No wonder nobody was a the reception, I got up at like 4am! No wonder my room wasnt ready yesterday! No wonder nobody was at the meeting poi.... Oh wait, oh shit the meeting point!

So I charged away from the counter and ran all the way back to the meeting point before 09:30. I was able to make it and yes, now there were many people there. So I started the tour. On the bus were some headphones with a guy talking about the different things around the city. I took pictures, spend the day walking around different attractions and being a normal tourist. I went up with the peak tram aswell. The mountain was pretty high and sometimes the track was so steap the tram almost went straight up. On the top you had a nice view over hong kong.

I waited for the bus and accidentaly took the green line bus which I am not sure if I was allowed on since I started with the red line bus. With this bus I went to the little stanley town where I ate something and then returned to the next red line.

On the way back the headohone guide started to talk about some ladys in hong kong that offered services for fortune telling but also with the option to put a "curse" on someone else.

"Just approach one of these ladys and ask them to put a curse on someone, after you have written 3 things on a paper shaped human body the lady will proceed to hit the paper with her shoe and call out to the gods to curse this human" "If you are interested just ask your local cursing lady for details and prices"

Back at the starting point I went to the ferry and returned to the other side. Here I waited until 8pm because then the light show was going to start. I only heard about it today on the bus tour that they had a light show here involving some of the buildings.

It was pretty cool, I expected a bit more from a city thats so full with light, but it was cool.

Then I made my way back to the hotel however I was just not able to find it. Everything does look pretty similar here and it took me a while of going up and down the stairs until, with the help of another hotel that I stumbeld into, to find the my hotel again.

After a shower I went out once more for a snack but I really felt that this was the last thing I am going to do today since I was just sooooo tired.

For tomorrow I looked around what to do for a bit, there are some parks that seem fun but also very expensive. I wouldnt mind a bit more relaxed day either.
