The New Year

I was thinking a lot about how to celebrate New Year's eve. I had the opportunity to go to a party in Washington DC, but I also had the opportunity to join my host parents and visit friends, play a couple games and have a multicultural dinner. I chose to join my host parents. It was a nice evening. We got there around 5 pm and hung out with Gerry before he went to bed around 7 pm. I drank "smirnoff ice" for the first time and we had an awesome dinner. We also played a game, I fotgot the name and ate Banitza with little paper pieces in it, which told you what is going to happen to you the next year. All in all it was a really nice evening. We were back before midnight and I talked to Lisanne into the new year. 
Ich habe viel darüber nachgedacht, wie ich Silvester verbringen möchte. Ich hatte die Möglichkeit zu einer Party nach Washington DC zu gehen, aber ich hatte auch die Möglichkeit mit meinen Gasteltern Freunde zu besuchen, ein paar Spiele zu spielen und ein multikulturelles Abendessen zu haben. Ich habe mich dazu entschieden mit meinen Gasteltern mit zu gehen. Es war ein netter Abend. Wir sind gegen 17 Uhr dort angekommen und haben ein bisschen mit Gerry gespielt bevor er gegen 19 Uhr ins Bett ist. Ich habe zum ersten Mal "Smirnoff ICE" getrunken und wir hatten ein außergewöhnliches Abendessen. Wir haben auch ein Spiel gespielt, dessen Namen ich allerdings vergessen habe. Und wir haben Banitza gegessen, in dem kleine Papier Fetzen versteckt waren, die dir sagen, was dir im nächsten Jahr passiert. Wir waren vor Mitternacht wieder zuhause und ich habe mit Lisanne ins neue Jahr telefoniert.

The next week was just a normal week, other than there were a lot of boxes arriving for Gerry with Christmas presents. I also went to Tysons Corner, a big shopping mall and bought new shoes and met a friend. And I've been to a place called "Piano Bar", which was really nice. I've also been to friends of Molly and Kevin in Maryland, whos daughter was having a birthday party. That was a great experience, too. All in all the New Year didn't start much diffrent than the old one ended. 
Die nächste Woche was einfach eine normale Woche, außer dass einige Pakete für Gerry mit Weihnachtsgeschenken ankamen. Ich bin außerdem im Tysons Corner gewesen, einem großen Shopping Center und habe mir neue Schuhe gekauft und eine Freundin getroffen. Und ich war in der "Piano Bar", was sehr nett war. Zudem war ich bei Freunden von Molly und Kevin in Maryland, deren Tochter hatte eine Geburtstagsparty. Das war auch eine tolle Erfahrung. Alles in allem hat das neue Jahr nicht wirklich anders angefangen, als das alte aufgehört hat.
