Letzte Etappe!

Last leg! Once again we got up early to beat the heat at Agua Caliente Indian Reservation. At the end of the road we reached a vista point of the Palm Canyon, an oasis of rich californian fan palm. The palms provided lovely shadow in the already incomprehensible heat of the morning. But also the animal world did reward us ample! First we saw a group of big horn sheeps well disguised in the mountains. Our highlight however were the tiny Hummingbirds. They are so swift - it was a real challenge to get them in front of the lense! Once again totally drenched from sweat we got in the car and proceeded to Anza Borrego where other than cactus and other non demanding plants nothing is really growing. But we did not come for the nature to the hottest place of the US, but for the over 100 over dimensional metal-animals and sculptures. They are scattered around the village in the scraggy landscape and so we started our "car - safari". But even the simple searching and taking picture of this metal figures took all our strenght and energy. For the umptheenth time we got drenched into our car and headed towards San Diego. On the last mile to our hotel we were speechless. An incredible beautiful bridge took us from San Diego to Coronado island. And there was - majestic our hotel! After a fresh shower, and with a beautiful view towards the pacific we drank our Margaritas and watched the sunset at mild 28° - Heavenly - we already love San Diego now....
