Why bothering flying to Australia when you can pet kangaroos at Kangaroo Creek Farm in Kelowna? Even the temperature (>35°C) fit. At the park, almost all animals roam around freely and can be pet, including Capybaras and small Emus. There are also some chickens with a really funny crazy-professor-like “haircut”. But the highlight were definitely the kangaroos and wallabies as well as the sugar gliders. They are so cute and fluffy. One even jumped from visitor to park ranger and back. The only questionable aspect, leaving a bit of a sour taste, is if it’s so great for the animals to be pet by so many visitors a day (and sometimes chased by children).
After that, we left Australia and headed for Italy. Since there are plenty of vineyards around Kamloops and Kelowna, we went to the Dirty Laundry estate to do a wine tasting (at least I did, because Philipp isn’t such a wine-enthusiast). Plus, it was nice to sit on the patio with a good view of the valley, having a delicious pizza for dinner.
