Probably all of you know Seattle from Greys Anatomy, I actually never really watched it, but of course I knew the Space Needle. The skyline of Seattle is breathtaking and you have a lot of different options to see it.
In my point of view Seattle is a really dreamy and wonderful city. I love the maritime atmosphere with the rivers from the pacific coming into the town.
The waterfront was one of my favourite spots, I loved to just sit down on the edge of the water and to watch the people and tourists walking by.
A place to stay is the Mariott Waterfront, which is a pretty nice hotel and the place is perfect to explore the city. It is located directly next to Pier 66 which includes a couple of restaurants.
Now I would like to introduce you to the perfect Seattle route for a 1-day trip
After breakfast at @toppotdonuts, you start walking the alaskan way which is the street directly at the water. You can enjoy different kinds of restaurants for example sea food or even a "Deutscher Hotdog Shop", and also buy some souvenirs in different shops. The Piers are super sweet, definitely worth to walk a little bit around to see some cute corners or a beautiful view on the water or the mountains.
Next stop was at least for me the Seattle Great Wheel, which is the perfect place to see Seattle from the top and to not miss the Space Needle in the picture. I would recommend the Feris Wheel for families or couples. For cool pictures take the elevator up to the @spaceneedle or the observatory tower.
There are some other attractions which you can find close to the waterfront: Miners Landing, which tells you a little bit of the history of miners; a carousel; @wingsoverwashington which is a "flying theatre" I heard its a ton of fun; some boat rides & the Seattle aquarium where kids can touch some sea animals, but its not that big as you think. I feel like Seattle has offerings for every age-group and every taste.
The most funniest part in Seattle is probably the @pikeplacemarket, you feel like back home in the northern part of Germany. Its a huge market with a lot of different things to buy, fruits and vegetables or some arts and crafts and most important FISH. Its the place were the fishes can "fly". If you buy a lot of stuff or bribe the owners of the store xD, maybe you will be able to let the fishes fly as well. Or they will scare you with an ugly fish. The people are super friendly and outgoing, the atmosphere is just phenomenal. Don't forget to walk up on the other floors of the market, there are so many different little stores to explore.
Directly next to the market is the popular influencer photo spot: the @gumwallseattle! Don't forget to bring some gum, to add yours if you still find a possible place to put it without touching all the others. I was actually not that impressed but its just funny to see how people pose in front of disgusting gums.
If you start walking to the space needle you can't miss the "1st Starbucks" which is actually not the first one and has an interesting sign compared to the usual Starbucks. Make sure that you plan a lot of time if you wanna get a coffee there, the waiting lines are incredible.
Walking in Seattle can feel really long, pack the right shoes and I can suggest to use the bus system its super cheap with 1,50$ per ride and it works pretty well in comparison to most us cities.
After around 20-30min you end up in the space needle park which is a green area in front of the space needle. Top place to take photos of you with this really huge building in the back. I personally couldn't make it to the top, but people recommended me to walk to the top in the morning or during sunset, it costs around 35$. I am not really sure if it is worth it, because you can't see the space needle on the skyline.
Get ready for my absolutely favourite place in Seattle: Kerry Park. It has the most beautiful skyline of Seattle. I was sitting there for an hour to just watch it. Its not extremely touristy, its completely free and a lot of people just make a stop from doing their workout. 5 minutes from there, you can find an awesome ice cream shop named @mollymoon which has special flavours and huge portions. I couldn't eat all of it and I just got one ball with 2 flavours. Get your ice cream and sit down on a bench in the sweet little Kerry park and enjoy the view.
Thats the perfect end for a day in the wonderful city Seattle. Hopefully you have good weather and will be able to see the mountains in the back of the skyline.
I didn't had more time to do some activities outside of the city, but I am 100% sure that Washington State has even more to offer than just a stunning, family-oriented and modern capital.
