Zwischen Warten und Griechenland 🕞🇬🇷/ Between Waiting and Greece 🕞🇬🇷

Willkommen zu einem neuen Update. Ihr merkt, dass ich gerade etwas mehr Zeit habe, da jetzt schon wieder was von mir kommt. So viel ist tatsächlich nicht passiert, aber ich kann euch schonmal die freudige Nachricht überbringen, dass ich mein Bachelorstudium erfolgreich abgeschlossen habe. 🥳 Pünktlich zum 1. Juli habe ich Bescheid bekommen. Das Ergebnis der Bachelorarbeit ist für mich total in Ordnung, auch wenn es in meinen Augen noch ein wenig besser hätte sein können. 😉😄 Somit schließe ich mein Studium mit einer soliden 2,2 ab. 

Eine weitere freudige Nachricht ist, dass ich einen Platz für das Masterstudium (M.A. in Multimedialer Medienproduktion) angeboten bekommen habe. 😃 Ich hatte mich ja auch noch auf ein TV-Volontariat beworben gehabt, bei dem ich Ende Juni ein Bewerbungsgespräch hatte. Da bekomme ich bis zum 22. Juli Bescheid, ob die mich nehmen oder nicht. Das wäre allerdings mit einem erneuten Umzug verbunden, da das Volontariat in Mannheim wäre und am 01.09. starten würde. 

Ich hänge da gerade ein wenig in der Luft und stelle mir einige Fragen. Was ist der richtige Weg? Was würde ich machen, wenn mir beide Möglichkeiten offen stehen? Wie würde sich das überhaupt gestalten mit Umzug und Kündigung des aktuellen Jobs und der Wohnung in so kurzer Zeit? Und dann schaue ich auf das zurück, was in 1. Petrus 5,7 steht: „Alle eure Sorgen werft auf ihn, denn er sorgt für euch.“ Gut, das ich das alles abgeben kann und darauf vertrauen darf, dass Gott mir den richtigen Weg zeigt und das sich Türen öffnen und auch schließen werden. Und wenn nicht, dann überlässt er uns freie Wahl und geht den einen oder den anderen Weg mit uns (Ich hoffe natürlich, dass ich mich nicht entscheiden muss 🙈). Denn für mich gibt es auf der einen Seite Pro Argumente und auf der anderen Seite Contra Argumente für beide Standorte. Ich halte euch auf jeden Fall auf dem Laufenden! Im nächsten Blogpost wisst ihr Bescheid, ob ich noch für weitere 1 1/2 bis 2 Jahre in Ansbach bleiben werde oder einen Neustart in Mannheim wage. 🤓

So habe ich nicht nur diese Baustelle, sondern auch noch zwei andere Sachen, die mich gerade beschäftigen. Zum einen, weil es die ein oder andere Meinungsverschiedenheit zwischen mir und meiner Gemeinde gibt. Wo ich mich auch frage, warum und warum jetzt, wo ich vielleicht eh nicht mehr lange hier in Ansbach bin? 😅 Dann dachte ich, dass ich besser damit klar komme, die letzte Kennenlernphase loszulassen. Spoiler: Ist gar nicht so einfach was  gehen zu lassen, was für dich Bedeutung hatte. Aber manchmal muss man auf sich schauen und ob man mit dem, was einem entgegengebracht wird, zurechtkommt oder eben nicht. In diesem Fall hatte es nicht gereicht, aber das heißt ja nicht, dass etwas nicht schön oder bedeutungslos war.

Kennt ihr das „innere Gefühl“, dass es vielleicht dran ist, weiterzuziehen und nochmal was Neues zu starten? Von dem „alten“ Umfeld wegzugehen, vlt. auch aus der derzeitigen Comfortzone und sich etwas Neuem zu widmen. Die Chance nicht an Dinge erinnert zu werden, die einen immer wieder an etwas oder an jemanden denken lässt? Ich kann es nicht ganz in Worte fassen, aber so fühlt sich das aktuell bei mir an. Mal schauen, was Gott dazu sagt. 🙌🏻

Jetzt noch ein paar Worte zu meinem Urlaub mit einer Freundin. Was soll ich sagen? Es war einfach toll. 😊 Wir hatten ja zwei Urlaube in einem. Athen und Santorini. Santorini hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Die weißen Häuser und die Aussicht, einfach der Hammer! 🤩 Nachdem ich am 20.06. zu einer Freundin gefahren war, um sie mal wieder zu besuchen (das war die Freundin, bei der ich während des Praktikums bei ProSieben gewohnt hatte), ging es am 22.06. im Flieger nach Athen. Dort blieben wir 1 1/2 Tage. Eine große Stadt mit vielen Bauten, die etwas über die griechische Geschichte verrieten. Wir übernachteten in einem Hostel, was sich als weniger erholsam erwies. Normalerweise habe ich bisher gute Erfahrungen gemacht, aber dieses Mal waren die Mitbewohner wirklich laut und es herrschte andauernd Unruhe im Zimmer. 

Am Mittwoch sind wir dann schon weiter nach Santorini geflogen. Dort hatten wir dann unser eigenes Apartment. 😁👍🏻 Wir füllten die vier Tage sehr sinnvoll. So schauten wir uns die ganze Insel an. Den Norden mit der Stadt Oia, die Hauptstadt Fira und den Süden Akrotiri mit dem Red Beach. An diesem Strand habe ich übrigens einen fetten Sonnenbrand auf dem Rücken bekommen. 😅🤷🏼‍♀️ Man kann sich da übrigens bestens mit dem Bus fortbewegen. Allerdings kostet eine Fahrt pro Person 2,20€. Dabei ist es egal, ob du eine Station, 2 Minuten oder 30 Minuten im Bus sitzt. Das fanden wir ein bisschen dumm, weil wir meistens nur eine Station weiterfahren mussten. Da lohnt sich auf jeden Fall eine Unterkunft direkt in Fira zu haben. Unsere war halt eine Haltestelle weiter weg. 🤦🏼‍♀️ An einem anderen Tag machten wir eine Tour zum Vulkan, der ganz in der Nähe ist und badeten in den „Hot Springs“, die keine waren. Das fanden wir schnell heraus, als wir ins Wasser sprangen. 😂

Am Samstag brachte uns der Flieger zurück nach Athen. Warum? Weil es von Athen aus viel, viel günstiger ist nach München zu fliegen als von Santorini direkt. Ich gehe mal davon aus, weil Santorini die Touri-Insel schlechthin ist. Das beweist auch, die überfüllten Tourispots in Athen und auf Santorini. Du erstickst fast bei den Menschenmassen. Also genießen ist so semi möglich. 😁☀️ Die Sonnenuntergänge sind aber auch echt einmalig - fast so gut wie in Namibia. 🇳🇦 In Athen hatten wir dann noch zwei Tage, wo wir noch die anderen Sehenswürdigkeiten abliefen. Welche wir uns angeschaut haben seht ihr in der Galerie. Gar nicht so einfach, die besten Bilder rauszusuchen, es sind so viele schöne Bilder dabei. Übrigens: Wenn du unter 25 bist und EU-Bürger, dann kommst du in alle Sehenswürdigkeiten umsonst rein! Meine Freundin musste leider für alles zahlen. 😬 Der ganze Urlaub hat uns für vier Flüge, zwei Unterkünfte und Lebenskosten an zwei verschiedenen Orten gerade einmal 630€ gekostet (okayyy… für sie war es etwas teurer als für mich). Für mehr Spartipps meldet euch gerne. 😉

Zurück zuhause in Deutschland merkte ich schnell, dass der Tankrabatt ausläuft. Schonmal 1 Stunde an der Tanke in der Schlange verbracht? Ich schon! Die 1,81€ pro Liter wollte sich keiner entgehen lassen. Bin ich froh, dass ich öfter bei meiner Tante bin und da dann auch günstig tanken kann. Einen Kanister habe ich mir auch schon besorgt. 😃 Ist gut, dass ich da etwas sparen kann. Ich durfte diesen Monat nämlich spüren, wie teuer ein Auto eigentlich sein kann, nachdem es einen Ölwechsel bzw. Service gab und die Bremsen erneuert wurden. 🙈🤓 Wat muss, dat muss! Nächsten Monat dann Inspektion… ich freu mich! 😀 

Diese Woche bin ich auf einer Hochzeit eingeladen und am Sonntag geht es mit meiner Tante ein paar Tage nach Mannheim. Wir schauen uns die Stadt an, um zu sehen, ob ich es mir da überhaupt vorstellen kann zu wohnen. Und in ein paar Tagen bin ich auch schlauer, was meine Zukunft betrifft. 🙃

UPDATE: (vom 24. Juli)

Ich habe mittlerweile eine Antwort auf meine nahen Zukunftsfragen bekommen. So wie es aussieht, werde ich erstmal weiter in Ansbach bleiben und meinen Master im Oktober beginnen. Es sind zwar noch ein paar Bewerbungen am Laufen, aber da könnte ich das Volontariat bei einem TV-Sender nebenher machen. Das fände ich ja mega. 😉 Aber Gott wird schon die richtigen Türen öffnen. 😊

Hi everyone! ☺️

Welcome to a new update. As you can tell, I have a little more time on my hands right now, since I’m posting again already. Not much has actually happened, but I can share the good news that I’ve successfully completed my bachelor’s degree. 🥳 I got the news right on July 1. I’m totally fine with the grade on my bachelor’s thesis, even though I think it could have been a little better. 😉😄 So I’m finishing my degree with a solid 2.2.

Another piece of good news is that I’ve been offered a spot in the master’s program (M.A. in Multimedia Production). 😃 I’d also applied for a TV internship, for which I had an interview at the end of June. I’ll find out by July 22 whether they’ll take me or not. That would mean moving again, though, since the internship would be in Mannheim and would start on September 1.

I’m feeling a little stuck right now and asking myself a few questions. What’s the right path? What would I do if both options were open to me? How would it even work out, moving and quitting my current job and apartment in such a short time? And then I look back at what it says in 1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares for you.” It’s a relief that I can hand all of this over to Him and trust that God will show me the right path, and that doors will open, and close, as they should. And if not, He leaves us free to choose and walks with us down whichever path we take (though of course, I hope I won’t have to make a decision 🙈). Because for me, there are pros on one side and cons on the other for both locations. I’ll definitely keep you posted! In the next blog post, you’ll find out whether I’ll stay in Ansbach for another 1 1/2 to 2 years or take a chance on a fresh start in Mannheim. 🤓

So I’m not just dealing with this situation, but also two other things that are on my mind right now. For one thing, there have been a few disagreements between me and my church. I find myself wondering why, and why now, when I might not be here in Ansbach much longer anyway? 😅 Then I thought I’d be better off letting go of that final getting-to-know-you phase. Spoiler: It’s not that easy to let go of something that meant a lot to you. But sometimes you have to look out for yourself and figure out whether you can handle what’s coming your way or not. In this case, it wasn’t enough, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t beautiful or meaningful.

Do you know that “inner feeling” that maybe it’s time to move on and start something new? To leave your “old” surroundings behind, maybe even step out of your current comfort zone, and devote yourself to something new. The chance to stop being reminded of things that keep making you think of something or someone? I can’t quite put it into words, but that’s how it feels for me right now. Let’s see what God has to say about it. 🙌🏻 

Now a few words about my vacation with a friend. What can I say? It was just great. 😊 We basically had two vacations in one: Athens and Santorini. I really liked Santorini. The white houses and the view—just amazing! 🤩 After I drove to see a friend on June 20 (she was the friend I’d stayed with during my internship at ProSieben), we flew to Athens on June 22. We stayed there for 1 1/2 days. It’s a big city with lots of buildings that offered a glimpse into Greek history. We stayed at a hostel, which turned out to be less than relaxing. I’ve usually had good experiences with hostels, but this time the roommates were really loud and there was constant commotion in the room.

On Wednesday, we flew on to Santorini. There, we had our own apartment. 😁👍🏻 We made the most of those four days. We explored the entire island: the north with the town of Oia, the capital Fira, and the south—Akrotiri with Red Beach. By the way, I got a nasty sunburn on my back at that beach. 😅🤷🏼‍♀️ By the way, the bus is a great way to get around there. However, a ride costs €2.20 per person—regardless of whether you’re on the bus for one stop, two minutes, or 30 minutes. We thought that was a bit silly, because most of the time we only had to go one stop further. It’s definitely worth staying right in Fira. Ours was just one stop away. 🤦🏼‍♀️ On another day, we took a tour to the volcano, which is very close by, and went swimming in the “hot springs,” which weren’t actually hot. We figured that out pretty quickly when we jumped into the water. 😂

On Saturday, our flight took us back to Athens. Why? Because it’s much, much cheaper to fly to Munich from Athens than directly from Santorini. I’m assuming that’s because Santorini is the ultimate tourist island. This is also evident from the overcrowded tourist spots in Athens and on Santorini. You almost suffocate in the crowds. So enjoying yourself is only sort of possible. 😁☀️ But the sunsets are truly one-of-a-kind, almost as good as in Namibia. 🇳🇦 In Athens, we had two more days to check out the other sights. You can see which ones we visited in the gallery. It’s not easy picking out the best photos, there are so many beautiful ones. By the way: If you’re under 25 and an EU citizen, you get free admission to all the attractions! Unfortunately, my friend had to pay for everything. 😬 The entire trip cost us just €630 for four flights, two places to stay, and living expenses in two different locations (okayyy… it was a bit more expensive for her than for me). Feel free to reach out for more money-saving tips. 😉 

Back home in Germany, I quickly realized that the gas discount was about to expire. Have you ever spent an hour in line at the gas station? I have! No one wanted to miss out on the €1.81 per liter. I’m so glad I visit my aunt more often, that way I can fill up there for cheap. I’ve already picked up a gas can, too. 😃 It’s good that I can save a little there. This month, I really got to feel just how expensive a car can actually be after getting an oil change and service, and having the brakes replaced. 🙈🤓 Gotta do what you gotta do! Next month it’s time for the inspection… I’m looking forward to it! 😀 

I'm invited to a wedding this week, and on Sunday I'm heading to Mannheim with my aunt for a few days. We're going to check out the city to see if I could even imagine living there. And in a few days, I'll have a better idea of what my future holds. 🙃

I’ve now received an answer to my questions about the near future. It looks like I’ll be staying in Ansbach for the time being and starting my master’s program in October. I still have a few job applications in the works, but I might be able to do an internship at a TV station on the side. I’d think that would be awesome. 😉 But God will open the right doors for me. 😊
