Nordkap (23. Juni) / North Cape (June 23)

Gestern stand ein weiterer Seetag auf dem Programm – und wir haben ihn mit großer Hingabe „über uns ergehen lassen“: gutes Essen, leckere Cocktails und am Abend sogar eine Portion Kultur. An Bord reist eine Sopranistin mit, die uns bereits an einem früheren Abend mit den schönsten Arien verzaubert hatte. Gestern standen die Highlights der Operettenwelt auf dem Programm. Kurz gesagt: Es war ein Ohrenschmaus vom Feinsten.

Die Nächte sind hier oben übrigens immer noch erstaunlich hell. Das erste Bild dieses Blogeintrags entstand gegen 23:30 Uhr. Wer es sieht, könnte problemlos glauben, es sei zur Mittagszeit aufgenommen worden. Mitternachtssonne – ein Phänomen, an das man sich nur schwer gewöhnt. Das Gehirn sagt „Mittag“, die Uhr sagt „Schlafenszeit“.

Auch heute meinte es das Wetter wieder ausgesprochen gut mit uns. Bereits gegen 6 Uhr morgens legten wir in Honningsvåg an. Um 11 Uhr ging es dann mit dem Bus zum Nordkap. Unterwegs sichteten wir einige Rentiere. Leider hielten sie sich nicht an die ungeschriebene Regel, für Touristenfotos in optimaler Entfernung zu posieren, und blieben deshalb eher kleine braune Punkte in der Landschaft.

Am Nordkap selbst war erfreulich wenig los. Dadurch konnten wir recht schnell die obligatorischen Fotos am berühmten Globus machen. Anschließend besuchten wir noch den Souvenirshop. Dieser erwies sich allerdings als äußerst gefährlicher Ort: ein wahres Gift für den Geldbeutel.

Inzwischen sind wir wieder zurück an Bord und bereiten uns auf das Abendprogramm vor. Heute erwartet uns ein Krimi-Dinner – Beginn um 18 Uhr, Dauer etwa drei Stunden. Einige Crewmitglieder werden einen Mordfall zum Leben erwecken und dabei ihr schauspielerisches Talent unter Beweis stellen. Während wir ein Fünf-Gänge-Menü genießen, dürfen wir miträtseln. Nun bleibt nur zu hoffen, dass wir den Täter vor dem Dessert entlarven – und dabei nicht versehentlich die falsche Person hinter Gitter bringen. 🍽️🔎😄

Yesterday was another sea day on the schedule – and we bravely endured it in the most pleasant way possible: with excellent food, delicious cocktails, and even a touch of culture in the evening. A soprano is traveling aboard our ship, and she had already enchanted us on a previous night with a selection of beautiful arias. Yesterday, she treated us to the greatest hits of the operetta world. In short: it was an absolute feast for the ears.

Up here, the nights are still surprisingly bright. The first photo of this blog entry was taken at around 11:30 p.m. Looking at it, you could easily believe it was taken at lunchtime. The Midnight Sun is one of those things you never quite get used to. Your brain says, “Time for lunch,” while your watch insists, “You should really be in bed.”

The weather continued to be exceptionally kind to us today. We arrived in Honningsvåg at around 6 a.m., and at 11 o’clock we boarded a bus for our excursion to the North Cape. Along the way, we spotted several reindeer. Unfortunately, they seemed completely unaware of the unwritten rule requiring them to pose at the perfect distance for tourist photos, so they remained little more than small brown dots scattered across the landscape.

At the North Cape itself, there were pleasantly few visitors. That meant we were able to take the obligatory photos by the famous globe monument without much waiting. Afterwards, we paid a visit to the souvenir shop. As it turned out, this was a highly dangerous location – particularly for our wallets.

We are now safely back on board and getting ready for tonight’s entertainment. A murder mystery dinner awaits us, starting at 6 p.m. and lasting about three hours. Several crew members will bring a murder case to life while showcasing their acting talents. As we enjoy a five-course meal, we’ll have the chance to play detective and solve the crime ourselves. Now we can only hope that we unmask the culprit before dessert arrives – and that we don’t accidentally send the wrong person to jail in the process. 🍽️🔎😄
