05.11.19 - Perth / Scarborough

Veröffentlicht: 05.11.2019

After falling asleep late I woke up at about 9:30am.

Time to organize the day! I need a SIM card and food ... fun goes second.

The dinner with Tom was successful. As of today it looks like we’re starting the roadtrip with the other guys on Thursday. So I have only to days left in Perth!

Filled my stomach with some leftover sweets from the flight (thanks to Michele🙏) and left the hostel (G) towards the city center.

Still feeling nervous every time walking under a tree and feeling something creepy-crawly on my skin hahahah...

Arrived at the Telstra store they told me I need my passport(!) to buy a SIM card 🙄 ...  so I made my way back to the hostel and stopped at Supa Iga for some foodshopping. Already felt like home when I found Barilla Pesto 🤣.

After the new sim was ready I walked through Perth’s city center. Lovely!

The city feels kind of flat, there are only a few sky scrapers. After walking through two beautiful parks I arrived at a pier. After realizing there’s no beach around I called myself an Uber to bring me to Scarborough beach.

The Uber arrived. I got in but we didn’t start the ride immediately. Instead a few seconds later another guest jumped in the car. Very cool! We got into a talk very quickly. She told me she just came from work and is on her way home which is on the way to Scarborough beach. She also told me today everyone is well dressed and in a good mood because there was a horse race taking place in Melbourne! A very special event once a year. They are even celebrating the event at work and stopped working for an hour or two! In Melbourne they even had public holiday today!! How cool is this??

On the way to her home we came by “Lake Monger”. This is the place where the black swan was discovered back in 1697. Amazing!

A few minutes later the driver dropped me at Scarborough beach. What can I say.. the pictures speak for themselves... after two hours of walking around and enjoying the sunset I caught another Uber and drove back to the hostel.

Tomorrow we will spend the day at Rottnest island, the only place you can see Quokkas in natural habitat! Can’t wait!

Cheers
