13 Rundfahrt Gibraltar

Offensichtlich liegt mir der Norden mehr als die südlichen Länder. Solche Überraschungen wie auch heute wieder, habe ich auf meiner letztjährigen Nordlandtour nicht erlebt. 

Als ich im Gepäckraum des Hotels mein Fahrrad abholen wollte, hatte es im hinteren Reifen keine Luft mehr drin. Im Hotel hatten sie keine Luftpumpe, doch im Ort habe ich in einem chinesischen Laden eine Pumpe kaufen können. Diese hat auch wunderbar funktioniert und die Luft blieb im Pneu. Ich war gespannt, ob ich so meine Gibraltar Rundtour machen kann. 


Voller Optimismus fuhr ich los, wobei mich schon die nächste Frage beschäftigte. Komme ich ohne Pass und nur mit der ID über die Grenze. 
Diese Grenze ist mit dem Fahrrad am schnellsten zu überwinden. Sowohl Fussgänger als auch Autos haben lange Wartezeiten. Ich hingegen konnte einfach durchfahren und die ID wurde problemlos akzeptiert. 

Doch dann kam erneut Regen auf und später ziemlich starker Wind. Von der Ost- auf die Westseite gelangt man nur durch einen langen Tunnel. Dann ist man gleich am südlichsten Punkt von Gibraltar, wo es eine grosse Moschee und einen Leuchtturm gibt. 

Auf dieser Seite der Halbinsel befindet sich der Hauptteil der Stadt und es gibt viele Touristen. Durch die Hauptgasse habe ich mein Fahrrad geschoben. 

Beim Flugplatz gibt es einen weiteren Grenzübergang. Davor muss man aber die ganze Piste überqueren. Auch hier geht es mit dem Zweirad am schnellsten. Alle anderen müssen anstehen. 

Am Ende der kurzen Fahrt hatte es noch immer genügend Luft im Pneu. Ich befürchte aber, dass ich ein ganz kleines Loch im Reifen habe, was nach den gestrigen Strapazen nicht wirklich erstaunt. Daher werde ich die Pumpe morgen mitnehmen und ab und zu nachpumpen, um weiter zu kommen. Gerade jetzt über Ostern habe ich keine Möglichkeit für eine Reparatur.

Obviamente me gusta más el norte que los países del sur. No experimenté sorpresas como hoy en mi gira por Nordland el año pasado. Cuando fui a recoger mi bicicleta a la consigna del hotel, la rueda trasera no tenía aire. No tenían bomba de aire en el hotel, pero pude comprar una en una tienda china de la ciudad. Esto funcionó de maravilla y el aire permaneció en el neumático. Estaba emocionado de ver si podía hacer mi gira por Gibraltar de esta manera.

Me fui lleno de optimismo, pensando ya en la siguiente pregunta. ¿Puedo cruzar la frontera sin pasaporte y sólo con mi DNI?

La forma más rápida de superar este límite es en bicicleta. Tanto los peatones como los coches tienen largos tiempos de espera. Yo, por otro lado, pude pasar sin más y me aceptaron el documento de identidad sin ningún problema.

Pero luego volvió a llover y luego a vientos bastante fuertes. La única forma de llegar del lado este al oeste es a través de un largo túnel. Entonces estarás justo en el punto más meridional de Gibraltar, donde hay una gran mezquita y un faro.

De este lado de la península es donde se encuentra la parte principal de la ciudad y hay muchos turistas. Empujé mi bicicleta por el callejón principal.

Hay otro paso fronterizo en el aeropuerto. Pero antes hay que cruzar toda la pendiente. También en este caso el camino más rápido es en un vehículo de dos ruedas. Todos los demás tienen que hacer cola.

Al final del corto recorrido todavía había suficiente aire en el neumático. Pero me temo que tengo un agujero muy pequeño en el neumático, lo cual no es realmente sorprendente después del esfuerzo de ayer. Así que mañana me llevaré la bomba y la bombearé de vez en cuando para seguir adelante. Especialmente ahora, durante Semana Santa, no tengo opción de reparación.

Obviously I prefer the north to the southern countries. I didn't experience any surprises like today on my northern tour last year. When I went to pick up my bike from the luggage room of the hotel, the rear tire had no air left. The hotel didn't have an air pump, but I was able to buy one in a Chinese shop in town. It worked wonderfully and the air stayed in the tire. I was excited to see if I could do my Gibraltar tour like this.

I set off full of optimism, but the next question was already on my mind. Will I be able to cross the border without a passport and only with my ID?

This border is the quickest to cross by bike. Both pedestrians and cars have long waiting times. I, on the other hand, was able to just ride through and the ID was accepted without any problems.

But then it started raining again and later it got pretty windy. You can only get from the east to the west side through a long tunnel. Then you are right at the southernmost point of Gibraltar, where there is a large mosque and a lighthouse. The main part of the city is on this side of the peninsula and there are lots of tourists. I pushed my bike through the main street.

There is another border crossing at the airport. Before that, however, you have to cross the entire runway. Here, too, the fastest way is by bike. Everyone else has to wait in line.

At the end of the short ride, there was still enough air in the tire. However, I fear that I have a very small hole in the tire, which is not really surprising after yesterday's exertions. So I will take the pump with me tomorrow and pump it up now and again to get further. Especially now over Easter, I have no opportunity to repair it.
