And sometimes things turn out differently than expected....

...or so.

Today at 9 o'clock my rental car should have been delivered. I didn't get to the front desk until 9:30. I know the Greeks. Smile

Since no car rental company had shown up by then, the receptionist called. They had no booking for me. Gulp. But after 3 minutes they found something with the name 'Daniela'. Bingo! They would call back in 5 minutes to confirm the time the car would be there. Yes, 5 minutes! Pha. I know the Greeks. After 25 minutes the callback came. And it got even worse. The driver had an accident with my car. Passersby had called the company and reported the accident. The car rental company tried to reach the driver. Unsuccessfully. So they did not know what was going on. For this reason, I will contact me again in the afternoon about the time. No, they will not do that. Because I do not want to receive my car sometimes in the afternoon. So then rather tomorrow in the morning. Okay, that was solved.

Then I went off in the direction of Chania city. At 29 degrees at 11 o'clock! Whew. When I turned in front at the intersection, I saw the roadblock. Police, ambulance. Hmm, something must have happened. But I didn't see anything. But, as it made quite suddenly beside me schrrrr, schrrrrr and a few cyclists past me, I knew what was: a bicycle race in Chania. At almost 30 degrees, children, men and women are racing. In professional full gear. And it was not only Greeks. A female crew spoke Arabic! So this must have been a rather bigger race.

Once I arrived in town, I went straight to my 'womens'. It is really nice to be welcomed so warmly. In short, I was again spoiled with coffee and cookies. Delicious. But this time I didn't come empty-handed either. Chocolate was the order of the day. The joy was great and had to be documented with a photo. Nevertheless, Alexia gave me olive oil and her own vinegar packed in two small pet bottles. With a lot of love, especially for me, she said.

Time went by and in no time almost 3 hours had passed. Oops.So I made my way through the nearby winding streets, past old city walls on the way to the sea. There I enjoyed the view of the nearby islands and the power of the water. Always fascinating what this does to people. Even if it was wavy and very windy; to feel the elemental force of nature is great. So at least in connection with sun and vacations! Everything else that is going on in Germany, etc. is of course not meant.

Slowly stroll back, watch the fishermen in the harbor, follow the hustle and bustle of the mainly Greek guests in the taverns and so slowly back to the hostel. This time even without getting lost: Me and sense of direction. Another topic!

In the hostel I had to recover from the heat. I'm not used to it anymore and so the little break in the air-conditioned room was a relief. But then the next horror. The car rental announces by SMS that it will not work with the car. The driver is in hospital and my car is broken. Since apparently all cars in this category on the whole island are rented, now a surcharge of 200 euros must be paid. On top of the over 400 Euros I would already have to pay for the 2 weeks.... Bingo. But, this takes over the car rental as goodwill. That is nice. But, the car must be picked up at the airport in Chania. Super.... Since I am very flexible I made the proposal to postpone the whole thing for 1 week. The rental company was meeega happy and glad if they don't have to pay 200 Euros and have enough time to organize a new car for me. Meanwhile I will use the bus network and explore the region on foot. I will keep you informed. Somehow I have the impression that something is holding me back from renting a car. Hmmm.

The hunger has announced itself today, as well as yesterday, again only now towards evening. So I walked at 19 o'clock (Greece is one hour ahead of Swiss time) to the same tavern as yesterday. But somehow today does not seem to be so my lucky day.My baked feta was served raw with some olive oil. So back to the kitchen with it. My farmer salad I could only season with vinegar, because olive oil was none on the table. But 2 bottles of vinegar.... Then, when I was done with the other food, the baked feta was delivered. Bingo. Finally, I was no longer noticed, because slowly filled the large terrace with Greeks. Ordered 3 x the bill and denied 2 x the invitation to the free dessert. Slowly my patience and flexibility is used up for today. So, just fast going back to the hostel, before I explode.

((Oh yes, and this whole text I had to write, as a crowning conclusion, also 2 x, because I pressed the wrong button!!!! Time to sleep. It's definitely not getting any better.))
