26. Tag - day 26 (for english scroll down)

Heute nahmen wir Abschied von unseren Hobbit Häuschen, den süssen Kätzchen und Elizabeth eine liebgewonnene Amerikanerin die auch auf einer grossen Reise ist. Wir fuhren duch viel öde Landschaft, alles orange, mit kleineren Wirbelstürmen und immerwieder Indianer Stände an dem Strassenrand, die ihre selbstgemachten Sachen wie z.B. Traumfänger, Schmuck etc. verkauften. Zwischenhalt machten wir in einem Kentucky Fried Chicken - wo für eine Portion wohl 6 Hühnchen ihr Leben lassen mussten und trieften vor Fett. Das war nicht so unser Ding. Danach kam schon bald der Grand Canyon National Park Eingang und es wurde sehr grün. Die Ausläufer des Grand Canyon gleich am Anfang waren schon sehr spektakulär - und es wurde nur noch besser. Auf dem Weg habs viele Aussichtspunkte wo wir anhielten. Da gabs Ranger die immer was interesanntes erzählten. Zoë schnappte auf dass es ein sehr ausgewogenes Tierreich hier gibt mit vielen Hirschen und Berglöwen! Da war sie extem schnell wieder im Auto. Kurz darauf sahen wir in der Tat einen riesigen Hirsch neben der Strasse der überhaupt nicht scheu war - ganz im Gegensatzt zu Zoë die die Wälder nun nach Berglöwen abscannte :-) Nicht weil sie sie sehen wollte - sonder weil sie ihnen nicht begegnen wollte. Wir haben unser Hotel mitten im National Park gebucht. Es ist ein schöner, alter, dunkler Holzbau mit schlechtem Internet (sorry). An dieser Stelle möchten wir gerne Mäxi noch zum Geburi gratulieren, da wir sonst einfach nicht zu dir durchkommen (sorry, sorry) ;-) - eben wegen der schlechten Verbindung zur Aussenwelt. Am Nachmittag wollte ich dem Rim entlang noch ein bisschen spazieren und Zoë wollte im Zimmer bleiben. Doch dann packte sie das schlechte Gewissen und wollte mir nachlaufen - doch leider ging sie in die entgegengesetzte Richtung. So lief sie kurz mal 4.5Km im strammen Schritt und kam ziemlich fix und foxi im Hotel wieder an. Da gabs nur eins: Margarita mit und ohne, Nachtessen, erfrischende Dusche und seelig ins weiche Bett fallen. Auch das ist mal schön :-) 

Today we had to bid goodby to our Hobbit houses, the cute kittens and Elizabeth a lovely friend from Portland who is on a big trip through the US herself. We drove through some very dry landscape, all orange with small tornados and a lot of indian stands on the side of the road selling their self made stuff like, dream-catchers, jewelry etc. We stopped for lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken where for one portion probably 6 chicken had to die and it was rather very greasy. Not really our thing. Soon we reached the Grand Canyon National Park entrance and the landscape turned green. The tail of the Canyon was already spectacular and it only got better! On our way there were a lot of viewpoints where we stopped. There were Rangers sharing interesting informations. Zoë picked up that there is a very balanced wildlife with loads of deers and mountain lions. She was extremley quick back in the car. Shortly there after we indeed spotted at the side of the road a very big deer - he was not shy at all as opposed to Zoe who kept on scanning the forest for mountain lions - not because she wanted to see them, but to avoid them ;-) We are staying in a Hotel in the middle of the National Park. It is a beautiful old dark wood building with very bad internet connection (sorry). At this point we would like to congratulate Mäxi to his birthday as we dont seem to be able to get through to him in any other way (sorry, sorry) due to the poor connection. In the afternoon I went for a stroll alongside the Rim and Zoë prefered to stay in the room. However shortly there after she felt bad about it and wanted to catch up with me. But unfortunately she headed to the opposite direction.... So she walked in a real fast pace 4.5 Km and returned to the Hotel rather exhausted. There was just one remedy: Margarita with and without, Dinner, refreshing shower and falling gently into the soft bed. That can be very pleasant too once in a while :-)
