After leaving the adventure camp at Ali’s, we continue along the FV17. Then, quite unexpectedly, we see a sign pointing to the Svartisen Glacier. Until now, we thought you had to make quite a detour to get there. So we look for a campsite for the night to do the hike the next day. But disappointment hits quickly: there are hardly any campsites nearby, and we end up on an unfriendly, rather noisy one. The real annoyance, however, comes later – the ferry only runs on weekends in the off-season. That means the glacier hike is off the table, and we’re stuck unnecessarily on this unpleasant site.
As if that wasn’t enough, our frustration grows at night when two campervans with elderly folks decide to throw a loud party. The only beautiful thing that evening happens above us: the northern lights put on a stunning show.
