So I decided to write a summary about Ghana and probably will do it for every country I visit.
I'm sitting at the reception of some hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which my airline Ethiopian Airlines pays for since I have 13h overlay. I'm really impressed by the service, there was a free bus and food included!
I had to wait two hours yesterday to get out of the airport, the queue for controlling the passports was just crazy.
I really felt connected with this kid 😂 Anyway, enough about the flight.Ghana is like Africa for beginners. It's not expensive and still original, tourism is a thing but you only feel it in touristic places like the national parks, the castles and hostels. If you stick with locals you will have a hard time actually encountering Western tourists, which is a thing I really like.The food... Well I didn't like it very much. It's not very diverse and many foreigners have issues with their stomach.The people are crazy friendly. Sometimes because they want to sell something but they are always extremely friendly and helpful. Public transport works also reasonably well. The roads are often terrible, especially when you travel to more rural areas but it's usually worth it.Sanitation in the north is also an issue but hey it's Africa so you can't expect Western standards everywhere. The country itself is beautiful and definitely worth a travel! 6 weeks is a lot for it tho, I would recommend 3-4 weeks if you don't have a year time like me. You get along with English good enough, sometimes you need to learn a bit local vocabulary. In the north they sometimes didn't know what avocado was, they call it "po". Also instead of saying "don't make the food spicy" you have to say "no Pepe!" (Pepe is what they call chilis) but it's probably going to be really hot anyway. Food here is always spicy, you will get used to it. If it's not spicy you are in a very touristic place, even the scrambled eggs usually contain green chilis.Even tho someone tried to take money from my credit card and my phone got stolen, I have to say that I would consider the country safe, I just have been stupid and didn't watch my phone good enough in a crowded, public area at night. The same could've happened in Hamburg.If you only have limited time in Ghana, I would definitely recommend you these three places:Mole national park because you get to see elefants.Wli waterfalls because it's a crazy adventure and the view is just incredible. During the rain season there are no tourists. (You can also visit the monkey resorvoir that is very close to the place)Maranatha beach camp in Ada Foah - the most beautiful beach I have been to and the perfect place to relax and chill out.
Overall I can just recommend Ghana if you want to experience Africa while traveling safe and with comfort to places that are not crowded by tourists.
So far so good, now I'm already at the airport and about to leave to Buenos Aires. Pretty excited about it, I finally get to speak some Spanish again.
