Iguazú - the godfather of waterfalls

Veröffentlicht: 06.11.2019

Currently I'm in Puerto Iguazú, in some hostel since I had no luck couch surfing. The first thing I saw was this:

Call me shallow but I thought it's hilarious (Turismo means tourism)
Almost the only thing to do here are waterfalls, called Iguazú or Cataratas. It's SO BIG that it has its own airport!
If you search on the internet what's the top 5 best/tallest/greatest waterfalls in the world it always shows Iguazú - with reason. This is just mind blowing, the sheer force of nature here is really impressive.
Here are first impressions.
Peaking through the jungle..
Americans would probably say: "Shit got real here".
I actually had goosebumps several time just looking at this, sometimes I laughed out loud since I just couldn't trust my eyes.
I'll just keep posting pictures here...

There are about 200 individual waterfalls here. The tallest waterfall is 82 meters.
I forgot how these are called, they look a bit like ant-eaters and have no fear of humans at all. They are known to steal food.
Plenty of butterflies around, got a good shot of this one.
Tourists pass these "small" waterfalls without evening stopping.
Yeah you think this is massive? Keep on scrolling 👍
In all my shots I try to cut out tourists but sometimes it's hard. This was the most crowded spot..
It's STILL getting better then this!
Also plenty of big lizards around - we are in the middle of the jungle.
Birds as well.
This is it. "Garganta del Diablo" translates to "devils throat". This is just one immense wall of waterfalls.
I couldn't capture it in one picture, the panorama feature didn't really do the trick but there is a video link in the end of the blog like always.
Just look at thiiiiiis
It was super moist. You could barely see the river due to all the water being pushed in the air..
The rainbow there below was constantly there.

I would have loved to take more pictures but was afraid the smartphone takes damage since it was super wet - check out the vids.
More butterflies on the way back
And more lizards.

Thanks for checking in again, the video link is here:

Tomorrow I'll go to San Vicente, a small town which is less touristic and I'll be couch surfing again. These tourist hot spots are really going on my nerves.
