Zaragoza- Castellon Day 3

This morning I searched for a room to stay this night and unfortunately I forgot ITS WEEKEND ... so of course prices for rooms went up tremendously. So, once again I changed my plans and instead of heading towards Tarragona which would have been much closer, I decided to  go down further to Castellon (this was planned for the day after). I found a nice hotel in the city center which costs "only" 40 Euros per night (by the way the camping prices here are nearly the same).

I went all the way down (another 270km) via Alcaniz, a little nice town where I stopped for having lunch. I did not see any groups of motorbikes until then but in the tapas bar I met 3 couples from Slovenia and we ate lunch together. I was quiet impressed when they told me that they are doing the whole tour around Spain and Portugal in only 2 weeks. so the average amount of distance for them is about 600 to 700 km per day.

I went on, heading south, (the weather forecast announced heavy rain for the area of Alcaniz and I wasn' t really crazy about getting wet another time. Fortunately, I could escape the heavy dark clouds behind me without any raindrop on me. I think the way from  Alcaniz to Castellon was by far one of the most beautiful and also interesting ones as it passes through some mountain ranges and over the "Porte de Torre Miro" which has 1250km above sea level.

I arrived at the hotel early this day, so a lot of time to talk to the receptionist and get some activities or plans for the next two days (this is some kind of my break as I wanted to stay at this place for two days in order to have some time to rest). But somebody decided to give me some more rest as I wanted; when I came back to my motorbike to put it in the garage , it didn't start any more (not a problem of battery or anything other definable. So I spent my afternoon in calling the ADAC in Germany, France and Spain (as they redirected me first to Germany as I am German, then to France because I am calling with a french number until they recognise that the incident has happened in Spain  and of course policies are different in every country.). So the towing service arrived exactly 60minutes later and as we could not define the problem, they took it away to their garage. Bye bye motorbike until at least Monday as everything is closed here on weekends and I reckon, as it is Spain, nothing will be opened on Saturday either.

So I'm stuck here now in Castellon and waiting for the call of the ADAC and trying to make the best out of my break. See you tomorrow ! hugs and kisses!

Hallo an alle!

Ich habe mal wieder meine persönliche Reiseroute geändert und bin nicht wie geplant nach Tarragona gefahren (die Hotelzimmer etc waren einfach viel zu teuer da es für das Wochenende oft ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel ist) sondern nach Castellon, eine Stadt, die noch etwas weiter südlich am Meer liegt.

Es waren ca wieder um die 270 km, die ich komplett auf der Landstrasse gefahren bin. Es war bis jetzt eigentlich die schönste Route, da es zum ersten Mal Serpentinen gab und die Strassen nicht nur geradeaus verliefen.

Ich habe einen kleinen Mittagsstop in Alcaniz gemacht, was etwa auf halber Strecke liegt. Dort habe ich 3 Pärchen aus Slowenien kennengelernt, die auch mit dem Motorrad unterwegs waren, allerdings reisen sie durch ganz Spanien und Portugal und das nur innerhalb von 2 Wochen.

Am Nachmittag bin ich dann weiter bis Castellon und auch relative zeitig in meinem kleinen Hotel im Stadtzentrum angekommen. Der Plan war ursprünglich bis Sonntag zu bleiben, aber als icch mein Motorrad in die Garage stellen wollte, spring sie einfach nicht mehr an. Also waren die nächsten 2 Stunden damit ausgefüllt, den ADAC zu rufen und auf den Abschleppdienst zu warten. Das Problem konnte nicht festgestellt werden und somit wurde sie in die Garage des Abschleppdienstes gebracht. Das Problem ist, dass am Wochenende natürlich alle Werkstätten zu sind und so muss ich wahrscheinlich bis Montag warten bis überhaupt etwas passiert.

Somit versuche ich jetzt, die Pause so gut wie möglich zu nutzen und das Beste daraus zu machen. Ich werde ein wenig die Stadt erkunden und wahrscheinlich ein wenig an den Strand gehen, falls das Wetter auch mitmacht. Ich halte euch auf dem Laufenden!
