Old Town

Don’t stick to the classic tourist spots – go hunt down the famous Sololaki courtyards. If you’re into architecture, this is heaven: ornate facades, mosaics, creaky old elevators, the smell of wood and coffee everywhere. You can join a guided walk or explore on your own – getting lost here is half the fun.

To Mother of Georgia or Mtatsminda

If you’re taking the cable car or the funicular, don’t forget sunscreen – the mountain sun can be brutal any time of year. On the way back, walk down: from Narikala Fortress, go down Betlemi Street toward the Rike Park. The walk is easy (it’s all downhill), and the views are top-tier.

The Bridge of Peace

If you want quiet photos or just to admire the architecture, come early in the morning. Later in the day it gets crowded, but that’s when you can hop on a boat ride along the Kura River – the city looks totally different from the water.

Narikala Fortress

A great place for an evening walk, but keep in mind: it gets windy up there after sunset. Bring a light jacket just in case. The Sulfur Baths look beautiful from above, but skip eating there – the restaurants around Betlemi Street are much better (and cozier).

Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theatre

A magical place – one of the absolute highlights of Tbilisi’s Old Town. If you’re lucky enough to get tickets, go. The shows mix Georgian, Russian, and French in the most poetic way; you can also ask for headphones with translation.

After the performance, keep the vibe going and drop by Café Gabriadze. The food and atmosphere are as legendary as the theatre itself – together they form part of Rezo Gabriadze’s artistic legacy. The café feels like stepping inside one of his plays: ceramics, sketches, stage props, quiet corners, and slow service that feels almost like part of the performance. It’s an experience, not just a meal.

Palace of Arts

If you get hungry after visiting the Palace of Arts, head to Salut Café (Lebanidze Street, just a few blocks away). Super chill vibe, breakfast served past noon, simple but delicious food.

Dry Bridge Flea Market

Classic but worth mentioning: bargain. Seriously, haggling is half the fun here. If you’re not into that – better look for souvenirs elsewhere. But if you are, you’ll find old photos, badges, Soviet porcelain, and random treasures that feel straight out of another century.

Mtatsminda & Turtle Lake Hike

If you’re into hiking, try walking up Mtatsminda and continuing toward Turtle Lake. The trail is easy and full of great views – city below, mountains ahead, and the kind of peaceful atmosphere you don’t expect this close to downtown.

Metekhi & the Berlin Wall Fragment

Right next to Metekhi Church, on Europe Square, you’ll find a small fragment of the Berlin Wall. It was gifted to Tbilisi by the German government in 2017 to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations – a quiet but powerful monument.

The Chronicles of Georgia

This is where you’ll get the most dramatic photos in Tbilisi. Even if you don’t know all the biblical scenes carved into the stone, it’s worth visiting for the sheer scale and atmosphere. Go around sunset – the light makes these massive figures look almost mystical.
