Kenting Nationalpark

Mein nächstes Ziel in Taiwan sollte der Kenting ganz im Süden des Landes sein. Und da Alisa das Gleiche vorhatte, schloss ich mich ihr und ihren vier Freunden (drei Schweden und einer Deutschen) an. Zusammen machten wir wieder auf Rollern den Nationalpark unsicher. Gleich am ersten Abend ging es zum südlichsten Punkt Taiwans. Leider war das Wetter nicht ganz so gut, was uns jedoch am nächsten Tag nicht davon abhielt, durch den Regenwald zu spazieren, wo wir ein paar Affen entdeckten, und auf Steinsafari zu gehen. Nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit bestaunten wir schließlich die unendlichen Flammen nahe Hengchun.

Mein Highlight waren jedoch zwei Kilo Drachenfrüchte, die wir geschenkt bekamen. Drachenfrüchte sieht man in Kenting überall. Nachdem wir an einigen Plantagen vorbei gefahren waren, beschloss ich eine ältere Dame auf einer der Plantagen zu fragen, ob ich ihr zwei Stück abkaufen könnte - oder ich versuchte es zumindest. Nach einigem Deuten und Gestikulieren, führte mich die Frau zu einer Scheune, wo kistenweise Früchte standen, und ein paar ältere Herren Tee tranken. Sie waren einigermaßen überrascht, als ich plötzlich vor ihnen stand. Doch die Drachfruchtpflückerin ließ sich nicht beirren und packte fleißig zahlreiche Früchte in eine Tüte, obwohl ich ihr versuchte klarzumachen, dass ich doch nur zwei haben wollte. Am Ende bekamen wir die ganze Tüte umsonst und durften sogar vor Ort Früchte probieren. Am Ende dachte ich (und hoffe ich) die taiwanischen Damen und Herren freuten sich genauso über unseren Besuch, wie wir über die Früchte.

Unseren letzten (halben) Tag in Kenting verbrachten wir bei strahlendem Sonnenschein an einem der wundervollen Strände.

My next stop in Taiwan was supposed to be Kenting Nationalpark in the South of Taiwan. Since Alisa also planned to go there, I joined her and four very nice friends of hers (three Swedish guys and a German girl) for the next two days. Together we explored the region again by scooter. On the same evening we already saw the southernmost point of Taiwan. Even though the weather was windy and rainy, we explored the forest recreation area, where we saw monkeys and little crabs, and went on a rock safari the next day. After dark we also saw the eternal flames close to Hengchun.

My highlight, though, were two kilos of dragon fruit we got for free. In Kenting you can see a lot of drangon fruit plantations. After driving by several of them, I decided to ask an elderly woman in one of the plantations, if we could buy two of them - or at least I tried to ask. After some gesturing and pointing, the woman led me to a barn, where they packed the dragon fruit. There, several elderly men drank some tea and were pretty surprised when I appeared. Without taking any notice of that, the woman started packing tens of dragon fruit in a plastic bag, even though I tried to tell her, I just wanted two. In the end we got the whole bag for free and were offered several to eat there and then. I think (and hope) the people there were as happy to see us and provide us with fruit as we were receiving them.

The last and very sunny day we spent at one of the beautiful beaches in Kenting.
