22. Tag - day 22 (for english scroll down)

Was für ein Tag voller Spass! Am morgen verliessen wir Springdale und fuhren ostwärts raus vom Zion National Park. Er zeigte sich uns nochmals von einer ganz anderen Seite. Als hätte man die ganzen Berge in orange getaucht - ein unwahrscheinlicher Anblick. Auch das Gestein war wie aufgeschichtet bei einem Kuchen - eigentlich wollten wir da gar nicht mehr weg. Aber der Bryce Canyon lockte mit grossen Versprechungen - und er hielt jeden einzelnen Buchstaben!! Wir fuhren direkt zum Hotel mitten im National Park. Da wir von gestern noch ein bisschen müde waren, wollten wir heute nicht zuviel wandern. Beim check-in konnte man einen Reitausflug durch den Canyon buchen. Das fanden wir doch ideal, da man nicht laufen muss und dennoch mitten in Canyon kommt. Alles ausgebucht Wochen im Voraus..... Aber Lenchen wäre ja nicht Lenchen wenn ich da aufgegeben hätte. Ich lies uns auf eine Warteliste setzten und siehe da innerhalb von 5 Minuten mussten wir bereit sein. Also los auf den Parkplatz dünne Hose runter, Jeans rauf, fliegender Birkenstock -> Nike wechsel, schöner Mittagspicknick im Auto liegen lassen und hop auf den "Gügel"! Kein Foto auf dieser Welt kann die Schönheit und die Eindrücke einfangen. Er war wirklich un, un, unglaublich (ich weiss ich brauche diese Wörter oft - aber dieses Land bietet soooo viel schönes - ich krieg mich kaum noch rein). Also trottenten wir (Zoe auf Wayne und ich auf Ford) 3 Stunden durchs Tal. Da es Monsunzeit ist gabs hin und wieder ein kleiner Schauer, den ich als sehr angenehm empfand, und Zoë zum schlottern brachte. Zurück im Hotel gabs für Zoë eine heisse Dusche und ein Nickerchen. Später gehts noch zum Sunset point (noch mehr Fotos....sorry!) und Rodeo wo unser Ranger Cody seine Kunststücke vorführen wird :-)

What a day full of fun! In the morning we left Springdale and headed east out of the Zion National Park. The park presented itself from a totally different side. As if someone pored orange colour over all the mountains - an incredible sight! Also the rocks had layers like on a cake - we really did not want to leave anymore. But the Bryce Canyon teased us with all the great promises and it maintained every single letter of it!! We drove directly to the Hotel in the middle of the national park. We were still quite tired from yesterday and did not want to do a demanding hike. At the check-in they offered back horse riding through the canyon. We felt that was ideal as we did not had to walk but still could immerse into the Canyon. All booked out weeks ahead... but Elena is not Elena if I would have given up. I asked to be put on a waiting list and sure enough 5 minutes later we had to be ready! We run to the parking, tore down the thin trousers, pulled up jeans, had a flying change of the Birkenstocks -> to the Nike's and left our lovely lunch picnic in the back of the car an hop on the horse. No picture of this world can capture the beauty and and impression of this valley! It was really un, un, unreal beautiful ( I know I use this word a lot, but this country offers so much beauty - I cant get my head around it) So we ambled (Zoë on Wayne and I on Ford) for 3 hours through the valley. Since it is Monsoon time there was a brief shower here and there which I perceived as pleasant and brought Zoë to shiver to the bones. Back in the Hotel she had a hot shower and a little nap. Later we are going to capture the sunset (sorry - more pictures)  and see Cody our Ranger doing Rodeo :-)
