Leaving Kennedy Meadows and going to Mammoth
At Aaron's place, we were given a tour around his ~40 acres property. There we were able to shoot some guns, which was good fun. We had a lovely dinner and did some star gazing....

On the 18th of August we entered Yosemite for a day of hiking and had to leave the park in the evening again, because we were not able to reserve a camping spot in the park. So for the first day, we picked an easy route, as me and Brian were still suffering from our tenacious colds. My UTI was getting better quickly with the antibiotics. The landscapes were still very beautiful and with hardly any elevation to conquer, I was able to enjoy the hike.
On the 19th we wanted to get into Yosemite Valley with the famous sights like El Capitan and Half Dome. That meant 2 hours of driving through the park, which of course took us through more wonderful landscapes. We arrived quite late in the valley (afternoon). Because most hikes from there aquire good fitness due to pretty steep inclines, we picked a hike, were we could turn back. The Vernal Falls Trail. I made it to the Vernal Falls (1200m of upupup 😮💨😆) but then had to turn back. Brian and Kirsten went on to the next big waterfall. It took them longer than expected and so we left the valley around 11:30pm. We were too tired to make it all the way back out of Yosemite. So we just pulled over to a little parking space next to the road and hoped no one would bother us. And we were lucky. We had a good night and could continue our journey the next morning, well rested.
