On the 22nd we arrived at Bucks Lake. It's close to Quincy, where Brian spent his early childhood and Brian used to spend a lot of vacations here, camping with family. His dad Frank joined us. His sister and Cousin were also ment to come, but their car broke down, therefore they couldn't make it.
Frank, Kirsten and me got to know each other chatting, him trying our Muesli and going on a boat ride on the lake. That ride was spontaneous. As we were going for a little dip, Brian swam up to a boat and asked the couple that was driving it, if they would take us for a little ride, as it would be a perfect trip down memory lane for him. And they did! I could not imagine this happening in Germany. That is really something I like about Americans. A lot of them are very open and friendly. It turned out that the boat owner and Brian's dad had quite a bit to talk about, as they knew a lot of the same people from the region. After the day on the lake Frank took us out to dinner. The evening was beautiful. The next morning we left for Reno, to restock supplies and pick up Brian's friend Sabrina to take her with us to Burning Man.
