21.11.2018 2 days at buffelsdrift

This morning my right arm was very cold since I didnt put it under the blankets when I fell asleep. After I shaked it for a while and got my feelings back I put on my long working clothes. Then I went for breakfast.

Larissa and leah were already there aswell and had a very strict rythm how they prepared their breakfast and now with a third person it was a bit chaotic.

We were picked up by Mariné because it was raining yetserday and everything was mudy.

We started with cleaning the elephant enclosure, I had a short introduction with Ari about the project. Then we went to check the electricity by the lion cage. The lions were a lot smaller than the ones in Namibia since these here were only around 2 years old.

Back at the camp we prepared elephant food which was a really nasty business. They get a lot of powdery stuff with pieces of fruit and we mix it with water to make it firm. For that you have to stick your hands in it and mix it... Atleast the sun was shining and it got a lot warmer.

Then we were driven back for lunch. Whitney had prepared a meal again which was quite spicey this time. Then mariné picked us up again, it wouldnt be that far to walk but its nice that she picks us up.

I never complained about the heat in namibia because I knew that one day it would be cold again and now here I am freezing

We went to pick up some bones and searched for the 2 cheetas that were walking around in the big enclosure they had here. It took us a while to find them, we used the same method that we did in namibia.

And towards the end we did manage to find them.
Then we got rid of the bones and drove back. The Afternoon was already over.

For Dinner it was already colder again, we had a barbeque with Mariné and Ari which was really nice, whitney had made very delicious pumpkin pie pieces and we had some chicken and garlic bread.

We talked for a bit and then the rangers went back.

With screaming and shivering I managed to take a very quick shower and then went back to the main tent.

I wrote my blog and after that talked to leah for a while then I went to beb because it is ice cold.

He lieverd, dat klinkt toch allemaal weer fantastisch!
