𝓱𝓮𝔂 𝓮𝓿𝓮𝓻𝔂𝓸𝓷𝓮,

this is the first time I'm writing something on this blog. So here's a little introduction for those who don't know me:

My name is Anneli, 16, from Germany and I'll be spending 10 months in Ireland on an exchange year.

I'll be living in a hostfamily and attending an Irish school.

𝓶𝔂 𝓫𝓵𝓸𝓰:

I got the name for my blog from the Irish language. I thought about it for a long time until I decided that I wanted the name to be in Irish.

lus-na-greine means sunflower in English. And for whatever reason, I really liked the thought of naming my blog 'sunflower' and not just call it 'Anneli's journey' . So that's how I decided on the name.

The main reason I want to document everything on this blog is, that I want my friends and family to keep up to date with what I'm doing and for me to be able to remember the little details of this experience.

𝔀𝓱𝔂 𝓘𝓻𝓮𝓵𝓪𝓷𝓭?

Originally I planned on going to the United Kingdom, however once they decided to go through with Brexit and I was told you needed to be quite independent there, I wasn't too sure about that decision anymore.

Furthermore I've been to the UK on numerous occasions before, whereas I've only been to Ireland once. And my experience with the people in both countries has been quite different.

I'm not sure what it is that makes Ireland seem so welcoming, but you just feel at home there. Everyone is extremely kind and the beauty of the nature makes you feel at ease.

And all of this led to one decision: I wanted to spend my ten months abroad in Ireland :)

If you're interested in my journey and reading stories about the life in Ireland then this blog is for you!

Slán,

•Anneli•
