Deich: Eight months in Ireland

Veröffentlicht: 05.05.2021

hey everyone,

It's been another month. And I've been away from home for exactly eight months now. Time has gone by quite fast if I'm being honest.
This will also be my last post while I'm still in Ireland considering there's only 3 1/2 weeks left.
The biggest difference this month in comparison to the last ones is that there actually happened something for once.
Therefore instead of just giving a monthly overview I'll focus on all the weeks individually.
So this is what happened in April:

the first week

In the first week of this mont nothing really happened. We were still on the easter break so I didn't do a lot of work and instead just relaxed all day. I also went out with one of my friends on one day which was kind of a highlight. And towards the end of the week I got myself ready to go back to school.

the second week

This week was also the first week back in school. And even though school isn't something I enjoy it was still kind of nice to see everyone again. The good thing was that we don't have a lot of work to do for school and we mostly sit around doing nothing.
This week also was the first week in which we actively practiced for our musical. And I'm very sure dancing isn't one of my strong talents.
We also went on our  weekly trip into town on Wednesday again. I really missed doing this.
At the end of this week we also did an Orienteering in school which was kind of fun and a nice way to end the first week back in school.

I, again, met up with friends on the weekend which was fun and then that week was over again.

We also got told we would be going on another trip with our year in the next week as well as on a trip with our organisation.

the third week

Again, in the first half of the week there wasn't anything going on because we don't get a lot of work for school and we mostly worked on small projects. And the highlight of this week easily was the trip with our school. We went on a hike in the near mountains and I can't remeber another day here where I had as much fun as on that trip. It was incredible to get out of school and to go on a trip with everyone. Because now you could have laugh with your friends for an entire day. the only sad thing about this day was the fact that all day we were promised to get ice cream at the end of it, but then the machine broke right before we ordered so we never got any.

And then our organisation took us on another trip the day after this. Which was also really nice. Again we went hiking, just not where we were originally supposed to go to because of a wildfire pretty close to that location.
We still found a place to hike and after that we were taken to a park in another town where we were able to just sit and have a nice time for the rest of the day. All in all also a nice day. And I'm just glad we get the chance to do something now.

the fourth week

The next week was a pretty ordinary one to be honest. Again there were lots of projects that required my attention, even though most of them are getting annoying. We also worked on our musical again. And while the musical classes can be fun they're also really annoying.
However I actually had to send some of my stuff home this week. It's hard to believe that it's already time to be worrying about all of this. But it's now not even a month until I'll be going back home. It's a weird thing to think about.

the last few days

And here we are. The last few days haven't been much different to the rest of the month. Most days are spent in school which isn't as bad as it could be, considering there still isn't much were actually doing.
Something nice to look forward to are two other trips that were announced recently. Meaning we will have at least two more days that'll be fun. Hopefully.

conclusion

All I can say is that I know realized my time here is coming to an end. And while I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back home again, I also really don't want to leave everything over here behind. But I'll just enjoy the last few weeks and not worry about anything until I'm actually going home.
This month has been so different to the ones before and it is easy to tell how much better things are now that Covid isn't ruining everything.

Until next time,

Slán,
