Day 50 Western MacDonnell Ranges part 3

Veröffentlicht: 03.08.2022

    • The car repaired and we not to sick to travel again, it is time to travel to Yulara to see Uluru/Ayers Rock.
    • Before the long drive from Alice Springs, we decided to visit Serpentine Gorge in the Western MacDonnell Ranges. First, we walked to the Gorge before heading up a short but steep lookout over the Gorge. From the lookout one also had a really nice view on the Western MacDonnell Ranges.

    • Next stop was the Ellery Creek Big Hole. Stuart went close to the water and decided too cold water for a swim and still too cold temperatures outside, so no refreshing swim necessary.

Then it was about 5h to drive to Yulara, which is a small tourist village near the entrance to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. On the way you can see "Fool-uluru" how Mt Connor is often named, as many people mistake it for being Uluru. Stuart of course knew it is only Mt Connor and enjoyed this short break very much.

As the weather was really nice we decided to buy the 3-day park pass on this day to see the sunset at Uluru. The sunset area for cars is really handy organised: you just park your car, take out your chairs right next to the car and can have a picnic & drinks while watching the changes of the color of Uluru. Stuart enjoyed this evening very much.
