Day 22 Pajinka – Cape York – The Tip

Veröffentlicht: 13.07.2022

Perfect day for the trip up to the Tip of Cape York, Pajinka – mixture of sun and clouds, no rain. From the car park it is a short climb up a hill and down to the Cape York tip sign. We had to queue for our pics taken at the most northern point of the Australian continent – but all worth it, decided Stuart, happy and relaxed after this tough journey. The way back was easier via the beach. At the beach Stuart insisted on a Cape York 2022 beach photo and realized how comfortably he was travelling in comparison to the sheep mascot on the bull bar of the car parked next to us.

After going to the tip, we decided to explore the area a bit and went o Somerset beach. Not too much to see, but the rough road on the way made us loose our first fog light on the driver’s side. Tried to fix the light a bit and went on to the Croc tent to get a colorfull Cape York T-shirt for us.

Back in Bamaga went to a mechanic, who told us the part holding our fog light was broken, so not easy to fix, but he took it off, so it at least doesn´t get lost or destroys the tyre.

With the car ready for the road Stuart wanted to see the World War II plane wrecks & dump sites pointed out by the people at the croc tent. Unfortunately, most of the planes weren´t that good to see but we found one to show Stuart.

As for the last night we had no kitchen in the room and the restaurant as well as the pub were closed, we went to Loyalty Beach for dinner. Loyalty Beach campground is situated on a lovely beach, they offered fish & chips or only chips as well as drinks to purchase and provided tables & chairs to sit. We ordered our food and got waiting number 69 – well, little we did know what that meant…. We waited, it rained, we waited, it rained… Nobody left their places when the rain started, everyone just sat and ate in the rain. To cut a long story short, after roundabout 1,5h we got a pack of fish & chips and a pack of chips – but no big portion and the chips weren´t good either, but better than nothing for our last evening at the Tip…
