Wat Pho - Temple of the Reclining Buddha

Veröffentlicht: 18.01.2019

After a splendid breakfast at the Mariott hotel my friend Susanne and I decided to pay a visit to the Reclining Buddha. By skyway and boat we reached the Wat Pho which is near the Great Palace. Wat Pho - the temple of the Reclining Buddha - is located right behind the splendid temple of the Emerald Buddha and has a length of 46 meters and is covered in gold leaf. The  Buddha's feet are 5 metres long and exquisitely decorated in mother-of-pearl illustrations of auspicious 'laksanas' (characteristics) of the Buddha. 108 is a significant number, referring to the 108 positive actions and symbols that helped lead Buddha to perfection.

After we visited this extraordinary Buddha statue we wandered around in the beautiful garden.

From the Wat Pho we took a Tuk Tuk to the railway station to inquire for a train ticket for me on the next day to go to Chiang Mai.  Unfortunately all tickets were sold out for the upcoming days, so I had no other chance then buying a bus ticket for a bus leaving on the next evening.

We had lunch close to the railwaystation before we took the subway back to Sukhumvit and from there we went by Tuk Tuk to see the hostel were to I was going to move later this day.

Then we walked back to the Mariott hotel and spend our last hours together at the pool and we said our goodbyes because Susanne was flying back to Vienna this evening.
