Exploring times

Veröffentlicht: 23.05.2017

The first night in my new home I sleep well. Today I like to explore the region. Going from Totnes to Dartmouth with the boat on the river dart looking around Dartmouth and driving back with the old fashioned steam railway „Round Robin“. Starting at the quay in Totnes we go down the river Dart, along beautiful landscape with birds, castles, historic houses e.g. Agata Christies summerhouse „Greenway“. On the boat there is a group of people with three beautiful Labradors, they are so calm and friendly. Anyway it is a very dog friendly region. Dartmouth is very pitoresk little town with many shops, cafes, harbour and historical buildings.  I walk around find a hidden little market place and have my first English potato fries at the harbour. To get to the round robin you have to cross the dart with a ferry to Kingswear. The are beautiful views over the harbour and the harbour front from a higher view point.

Getting on the old train I feel like Agata Christie 😊. We leaving Dartmouth direction Paignton following the coastline with many beautiful little villages at the sea. Brixham have to be explore on an extra tour! Arriving in Paignton I take a short walk to the along  a ugly, busy high street to the sea and than go on with bus back to Totnes.

What great day! Seen so many things and always get in touch  with people. An English lady on the boat, named Helga because of her German  mother. The group of Labrador owners and  an Indian family on the train, which had just moved in the region because of the father's job as a cancer specialist. It's easy to work on my English beside school ...
