Day 130 Kalbarri coast part 1

Blue sky, lots of sun and a relatively warm day are perfect conditions to explore the southerly part of the Kalbarri coast. After watching some colorful birds in our garden, Stuart had a pancake breakfast to be prepared for a day at the coast.

First stop is the Island Rock Lookout for some stunning views on the Kalbarri coastline. Stuart enjoyed the views and was very excited to spot a pot of dolphins just swimming along the coast to the south. Luckily for us, there was a fence, so Stuart couldn´t run of to the dolphins and disappear with them.

Next on the coastal route ist the Natural Bridge Lookout with a view on a small natural bridge.

Next stop is Shellhouse & Grandstand car park. First is the Grandstand Lookout with views on the coast line somehow looking a bit like the twelve apostles down in Victoria. Looking out for wildlife we discovered here another pot of dolphins swimming south along the coast. A short walk north is the second lookout Shellhouse with views into a small gorge cut by the water into the coastline.

Last stop of the day was Eagle Gorge. The Lookout offers some stunning views on the coast, the different layers and is a lovely spot to watch some bigger waves coming in as well as birds hunting for snakes. There is a trail marked to go down to the beach, but with the rocks and waves no swimming, so we did not bother walking down but rather enjoyed the views.

On the walks between the lookouts we discovered different wildflowers and wildlife - from funny green & shiny bugs to the annoying and abundant flies...
