Meeting new people
Today I had my introduction session at the lone pine koala sanctuary. When I got there I registered at the main entrance and the woman told me I wasn't on the list, because of course I wasn't the way luck has been on my side lately I should be happy I even got there. There where about 8 other volunteers who all start on different dates. Some of them also just work on special days and not everyday.
After showing us food, equipment and rules we were free to walk around the sanctuary and get a feel for where everything is. There where kangaroo's, wombats, a bunch of reptiles, birds and farm animals.
Making my way back to the exit I heard someone say "Bye Bye!", so I turned aroumd with a smile on my face wanting to return the courtesy. However nobody was there. Looking around kind of dumbfounded I heard it again. This time I saw the one saying it. It where two birds who would call out "hello" and "bye bye" at random. Another volunteer walked past and I told her about the birds. She looked at me in disbelief and nothing. The birds stayed silent, I ensured her that the birds where actually talking but she just nodded and kept walking. Damn birds.
Then I went back and made my way to the new group of friends I met yesterday. We managed the find each other and walked to the university they were studying at. There they had reserved a room thats usally used for presentations just to play D&D which was pretty awesome.
It was a lot of fun even though we didn't play that long. We agreed to maybe meet again next week so we'll see how that goes.
