Day 10: Valencia- Alicante

Hola a todos!!

another day has passed, another loooong day and I feel really exhausted, not only because it is nearly 2 o'clock in the morning but also because I had a long walk today in the city of Alicante and the heat down here is not making it much easier (no, I am not complaining but you can imagine that it is getting more and more difficult on motorbike with a temperature reaching its peak at about 40 to 42 degrees).

I left Valencia  early this morning because I did not want to take the highway directly to Alicante but rather the CV 500 leading down to Gandia and Denia where I stopped to have a  quick jump into the water because at midday it was close to become unbearable. I stopped at a nice little beach next to Denia  to cool down a bit. Later on, I took the highway between Benidorm and Alicante which was one of the most beautiful landscapes so far. At my arrival, Donatella the owner of the apartment, was already waiting for me. And I stopped counting how many times she hugged and kissed me :) She is just such a lovely and welcoming lady and I already reserved my room here on the way back next week. I also met Berti, a man from Holland, who has been working in Spain for more than 15 years now, and he proposed me to show me the city in the evening. The apartment is really big and comfortable and we can use the kitchen and everything. So if ever you want to stay or pass your holidays in Alicante, ask me for this address, I can absolutely recommend it!

I went out to see the castle "Castello de Santa Barbara" which is on a hill, so you can have a wonderful view on the ocean and the city. I also wanted to take a short bath, but the masses of people on the beach changed my decision. So I went home, to a shower and was ready to see Alicante at night. Berti and I were eating in a tapas restaurant, which was delicious ( yes I can't get enough of it !!) and then we walked, and walked, the esplanade; we admired all the sailing boats of the Volvo Ocean Race and went back through the town to get some ice cream at nearly one o'clock in the morning. Actually, it is the time, when all the people leave their houses to party. Well, not for me, as I have to leave quiet early tomorrow morning to drive down to Cartagena wherr my friend Lorena lives.Will be a nice drive close to the ocean as well and I can' t wait to see it.

Halli Hallo

ein weiterer Tag ist rum und es war mal wieder ein langer anstrengender Tag, aber eher im positiven Sinn. Es ist schon 2 Uhr früh und ich sitze in "meinem" Appartment, was ich für diese Nacht gebucht habe und es war eine wirklich tolle Entscheidung, weil es kein Hotel in dem Sinne ist; sondern eine voll ausgestattete Wohnung ( sehr gross dazu noch) mit mehreren Zimmern, in denen ausschliesslich Reisende aus aller Welt wohnen, so eine Art Kurzzeit- WG. Und die Vermieterin ist super lieb. ALs ich ankam, hat sich mich gleich umarmt und gar nicht mehr losgelassen und ich habe irgendwann aufgehört zu zählen wie oft sie mich noch umarmt und geküsst hat :D jedenfalls habe ich mich gleich wohlgefühlt und auch Berti aus Holland kennengelernt, der mir dann angeboten hat, mir etwas die Stadt zu zeigen, da er schon seit vielen Jahren in Spanien wohnt.

Ich bin jedenfalls recht früh aus Valencia los, Auch wenn meine Strecke heute nicht enorm lang war, aber ich wollte mal wieder nicht die Autobahn nehmen, sondern auf der Landstrasse fahren was natürlich meist etwas länger dauert.  Ich bin über Gandia und Denia gefahren, direkt an der Küste entlang und habe in der Nahe von Denia eine kleinere Badepause eingelegt; da mir bei fast 40 Grad und den Motorradklamotten irgendwann das Wasser am ganzen Körper herunterlief. Den letzten Abschnitt bin ich dann Autobahn gefahren und es war trotz 9 Euro Maut;; die ich eigentlich umgehen wollte, eine wunderschöne Strecke zwischen kleinen und mittleren Gebirgszügen und dem Meer direkt dahinter. Gege 16 Uhr kam ich hier an und habe mich kurz mit Donatella, der Vermieterin unterhalten und auch gleich das Zimmer für meine Rückfahrt nächste Woche gebucht. Es gibt hier eine Burg oben auf dem Berg von Alicante, von der man eine sehr gute Aussicht auf alles hat, die Castello Santa Barbara. Da war ich dann am Nachmittag und wollte eigentlich auch noch zum Strand, aber die vielen Menschen haben mich dann eher abgeschreckt. So bin ich zurück zur Wohnung und nach einer erholenden Dusche bin ich dann mit Berti durch die Stadt gezogen. Wir haben Tapas gegessen, sind durch die Stadt und den Hafen und haben die grossen Boote des Volvo Ocean Race bestaunt. Die Stadt ist abend sehr belebt, fast noch mehr als es in Valenca der Fall war und mir persönlich gefällt sie bis jetzt am besten Morgen geht es dann nach Cartagena zu meiner Freundin und da bleibe ich dann auch bis Sonntag.
