BLOG 14: From Monteverde to the Pacific Coast in Southwestern Costa Rica

I am quite behind on editing the blog – our schedule is very tight and I don't want to spend all my free time on the laptop….

In the meantime, we are back in Austria and suffering from jetlag. I will do my best to post the missing episodes as soon as possible.

Today, we are going from the cooler mountain region with its fine drizzle back down to the coast – this time to the Pacific and further south.

On the drive down the quite good but winding road, we can nicely see the formation of the drizzle – clouds on the mountain ridge and, driven by the strong wind, the drizzle falling into the lower areas. We also have great views of the Pacific and the Nicoya Peninsula.

We make a detour to the town of Puntarenas, known as a cruise ship stop - there isn't much to see here - but at least there are good drinks and espresso…

Continuing on, we briefly stop at the Mirador Jacó – this viewpoint is famous and offers a nice view of the Pacific and the rather unremarkable town of Jaco. But here we at least see a huge toucan up close – unfortunately just as a figure…
