One should consider that Costa Rica was previously deforested by 80% (!!) – thanks to American companies like United Fruit, Del Monte, etc. However, it is fascinating how relatively quickly nature, both the animal and plant world, has recovered in the past approximately 50 years, and the currently mostly secondary forest is absolutely worth a visit.</p>

On the first day, we will venture onto the rather “wobbly” hanging bridges in the quite touristy “Puentes Colgantes Arenal Mistico Park” - a well-developed and frequently visited nature reserve, where we will embark on a challenging nearly three-hour circular hike – up and down and also over 5 swaying hanging bridges, through the tropical rainforest with a guide.
