Georgian cuisine stands out for its fresh ingredients. I tried to sample my way through the entire cuisine, and even though I’m a vegetarian, there were plenty of dishes I could enjoy.

The typical dumplings 'Chinkali' come in various versions, traditionally filled with meat, but you can also find cheese or mushroom fillings on every menu.

A classic salad resembles a Greek village salad, sometimes enriched with fresh cheese or cilantro. Normally, I don’t like cilantro, but in Georgia, it seemed particularly mild, and the salads were always incredibly delicious.

Also, Chatschapuri, a type of bread usually filled with cheese and egg, tastes excellent in almost every restaurant. But beware - it’s very filling!

Only the Georgian 'Stick' - Tschurtschchela, didn’t really win over my taste buds. It consists of various kinds of nuts. Dipped in thickened grape juice, they are hung on strings.

But the wines from Georgia will remain unforgettable for me. It is rumored that Georgia is the oldest wine-growing region. The Qvevri wines age, unlike, for example, wines in oak barrels, in amphorae underground. They are fermented similarly to orange wines with the pomace, developing a unique characteristic flavor.
