After waking up, we had a nice breakfast and headed off to the moss lava fields. It’s a type of lava rock that is covered with moss. Sounds pretty crazy! (But honestly, it does look a bit like it’s covered in mold, right? 😏)
But it’s comfy. Almost like a mattress… We tested it! (Of course, we didn't climb over the barrier there! This lava-moss stuff was really everywhere in that area. We legally laid down somewhere else. 😁)
(This was actually not my idea this time, but Steffi’s! 😅)
Our next destination was supposed to be a canyon. “Supposed to” because Päpu and Steffi typed something completely wrong into the GPS. (They just can’t agree on who it was… 😜)
On the way there, we passed by three Icelandic ponies. Soooooooo cuddly sweet! Even though one almost ate Jana’s sweater. 😂
We started to have doubts when we didn’t see a single car. In a place like this, there should be tons of tourists.
And well. In the end, we were all alone in the middle of Icelandic nowhere. But there was a lovely river with a small waterfall, and it was actually very beautiful! > Totally a hidden gem! 😎
Jana and I were even able to drive the camper back and forth from the main road ourselves. 😁
After that, we went to the Skaftafell National Park where we hiked up a mountain and could see two waterfalls.
After a little shopping, we headed to our camping site for the night.
Hiking made us all tired. After the aperitif and dinner, there's a surprise dessert. Then we’ll go to bed. ☀️
