The Danube Delta is the second largest biosphere reserve in Europe after the Volga Delta. Typical birds include the Rose and the Dalmatian Pelican, the Spoonbill, the Herring Gull, the Great Egret, the Rails, the Night Heron, Bee-eaters, Swans, the Stork, the European Roller (…Rat ;-)), the Cetti's Warbler, the Ibis, a swimming cow, and so much more…..

The Dalmatian Pelican

We explore the delta with a hotel ship designed for a maximum of 20 people. The cabins are approximately 9m2 in size and feature windows, a toilet, and a shower cabin with warm water. Full board with Romanian specialties that leave nothing to be desired.

Yummy

This is a unique opportunity to experience this UNESCO World Natural Heritage site up close, especially since the ships provide dinghies to navigate the smallest canals. Ideal for bird watching, photography trips, or simply enjoying a peaceful break with nice people.

The hotel ship

We board in Tulcea and first travel along the Sulina Canal, visiting Mila 23, Caraorman, an idyllic fishing village, an abandoned factory area for glass production from the Ceaușescu era, the Litcov Canal, which at 45km is the longest canal and serves private passenger shipping, we visit a 500-year-old kneeling oak and many lakes up to the Ukrainian border.

Former factory area

Ukraine has increased the depth of the navigational channel in certain sections, which negatively affects the sensitive ecosystem of the Danube Delta.
