Germany's beautiful spots A tour around Lake Constance

We started our bike ride in Bodman-Ludwigshafen. An apple region like no other. The lake's Mediterranean microclimate combined with the many hours of sunshine provides perfect conditions.

We ride past Friedrichshafen, through the wine region of Meersburg, and the small village of Fischbach 🐠 to the beautiful island of Lindau.

It was first mentioned by a women's monastery in the 9th century. King Maximilian, after whom the central Maximilianstraße is named, built the Lindau harbor in the mid-18th century.

One must mention the historic pile-dwellings, recognized as a World Heritage site in 2011. They originated in the Bronze Age and are well-preserved underwater due to the lack of oxygen. The farmers (2200 BC) were protected not only from floods but also from predators.

Up to Bregenz, the cycling paths are well-paved, making them very suitable for road bikes. From Hard/Fußach, it becomes difficult to ride with the delicate tires directly by Lake Constance, as gravel roads dominate here.
Upon arriving in Rorschach, the historical palace-like baroque building from the 17th century at the harbor catches the eye. It was once a transshipment point and warehouse for grain, today it is a museum for optics, illusion, mankind, and his senses.

In Konstanz, I could have lingered. The city is among the most attractive places in Germany/Baden-Württemberg.
St. Stephen's Church is considered the oldest church foundation in Konstanz. The cathedral with its neo-Gothic spire dates back to the 6th century.

Lake Constance is surrounded by Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with their respective idyllic towns and beautiful lakeshores. The alpine panorama in the background is especially striking from the German perspective, showcasing its full splendor.
