Leaving the big cities – heading inland, that was the plan for today.
Our first stop was at the Montmerency Falls.
We took the cable car uphill. Then the circular path began. First through the woods, then over the bridge right above the waterfall, then back into the woods for a bit, over another smaller river bridge, and finally down the 487 steps.
We made several short stops; the waterfall looked exciting from every new perspective. Also with a rainbow and plenty of spray.
We bravely made it to the viewing platform. Once again, 'You get soaked' 😂. Luckily, it was very warm today. By the time we got back to the parking lot, we were dry again.
We made another short stop at the Basilica St. Anne de Beaupré.

Under the basilica is a lovely chapel.
Then we headed to our destination for today: St. Felix d'Otis.
The roads became clearer and the potholes larger. The road conditions in Canada are truly a catastrophe, especially since there is no warning or speed reduction.
Besides chipmunks, we could see rabbits and skunks; moose only on road signs.
After the bumpy ride, a charming B+B guesthouse with a great view awaited us. As the sun slowly set...

...we made a cheese fondue! The hosts had various ingredients stocked in the fridge and freezer for meals. And so we could enjoy a cheese fondue with ciabatta!
