Today we went to the capital of British Columbia: Victoria. But first, we made a stop at the Wildlife Recovery Station near Parksville. Here, wildlife that is injured or unable to survive in the wild is cared for and, if possible, reintroduced to their natural habitat. Unfortunately, there were many animals here for which life in the wild is no longer possible. But they seem to be well taken care of here.
On the way, the cloud cover broke, and once again we were blessed with better weather than originally forecasted. The drive to Victoria felt long and showed us just how enormous the island is – we were only traveling through the lower third.
Arrival in Victoria: Harbor Charm and Relaxation
We arrived in Victoria under radiant sunshine. Now it was time to fill our stomachs. We did this with a view of the beautiful harbor basin in front of the Parliament building. Then, we had ice cream while strolling along the waterfront promenade – and just like that, the day was over.
Tomorrow we are looking forward to one of our highlights: Whale Watching.
