We said goodbye to our first vacation home and headed back towards the waterfront for breakfast. We chose a café that was recognized as one of the best cafés in the world. A super laid-back, alternative café. The food was outstanding. We tried French toast, sourdough bread with salmon, and the unassuming toasted croissant topped with mortadella, egg, and cheese. It truly was one of the most delicious breakfasts we ever had.

Recharged, we then went up to the lookout to see the city from above one last time before we had to say goodbye. We had fantastic weather conditions and a perfect view all around. Anni and Leo took about 500 pictures :D

As our last stop, we made a visit to Coal Harbour to see the Digital Orca. We walked along the water and enjoyed the fantastic weather until we reached our destination. Very impressive - especially for the kids. For Leo, it could have been a real orca.

We would have loved to go whale watching with the kids. However, there are only limited options for children. Nevertheless, you are out on the water for about 4 hours. Unfortunately, our kids didn’t see that. Additionally, all activities are incredibly expensive. This trip would have cost us around €400. For that amount, we can go on many outings, so we decided against it.

After that, we set off from Vancouver toward the mountains. We said goodbye to the big city vibe and welcomed the vast nature.

Summary of Vancouver: An incredibly impressive city that holds everything we could wish for. A metropolis by the sea, close to nature, with many special corners and great activities. However, one must plan the stay well since Vancouver is a very expensive city. But with a little research and choosing the right spots, it is one of the most amazing cities - at least for us.

We continued with our rental car to Whistler. We drove on the famous Sea-to-Sky Highway. And well, the name says it all and promises exactly what you see. The ocean on the left side and the mountains on the right. An unbelievably beautiful backdrop, and especially with the wonderful weather. We made a stop at the sea, where the kids climbed over driftwood to throw stones into the water. The next stop was at a small waterfall that was somewhat hidden in the forest. Then we continued to Whistler. We decided to let the evening wind down relaxing and were pleasantly surprised by a small - well, large - visitor not far from our accommodation. Basti spotted a black bear about 50 meters away from the balcony. Unfortunately, it disappeared super quickly. We ended the evening with pasta and tomato sauce in our rustic accommodation.
