Tag 25/29 Cape of Good Hope & Muizenberg

Published: 10.04.2024

Today we're starting super early for our standards 😂 We went to see the penguins in Simon's Town again. We had been given a tip about where you can splash around in the water with the penguins. We went to the beach through a somewhat hidden entrance. Unfortunately we weren't lucky and the penguins weren't at Foxy Beach today. But that wasn't a problem, we still had fun on the beach. Afterwards we had a delicious coffee and ice cream for breakfast (it is vacation after all 😉).
We then continued on to the Cape of Good Hope. The national park is located in the very south of the Cape Peninsula and is really unbelievably beautiful. We first drove to the typical photo spot (where you had to queue to take a photo... we want to share the reality here 😂). Then we had lunch in the park and then took the cable car up to a viewing point on the top of a rocky outcrop where there is a lighthouse. Anni walked up and down all the steps to the lighthouse by herself 🎉 The view was magical. We drove through the beautiful national park for a while and still couldn't get enough of the vastness and nature. The beaches in the national park were also super impressive. The high waves crashed against the rough rocks. Simply great 🤩 We also saw a few ostriches.
In the late afternoon we went to Muizenberg. To be honest, we had imagined it differently and didn't have a good feeling there 🥴 Maybe it was because of the time, but we were completely stressed because there were some strange situations and some people there were quite pushy. We had never experienced anything like that here before. Drug addicts and a lot of poverty among the usual surf-hippie tourists. The Mexican dinner was really outstanding and the restaurant would have been very inviting under other circumstances 😋
Then we went back home in the dark, which was stupid...🙈 There are no street lights here. So it was pitch black. Nothing specific happened, but we were just tense from the moment we arrived in Muizenberg until we opened the front door. Without the children, it might have been different. Lesson learned... you're at home here before dark...🤷🏽‍♀️
