Nairobi welcomed us in the afternoon with a pleasant 25 degrees. We ended the first evening by relaxing and stocked up on the most delicious pineapples, mangoes, and papayas from street vendors. We also enjoyed fresh chapati (flatbreads) with vegetable omelette.
The next morning, we set off early to explore Nairobi. We strolled through a park and enjoyed the view of the city - and the tranquility.
However, the serenity quickly faded in the city center. Kenya celebrates Valentine's Day extensively, and hundreds of vendors were eager to offer us flowers - and everything else too. In the afternoon, we received a city tour from former street children who guided us through 'Downtown' (the poorer district) and shared their stories. It was very impressive, overwhelming, and simply incredible how fortunate we are to have grown up in a different part of the world.
Exhausted from the impressive day, we are now packing our backpacks. Because tomorrow we embark on our hike to Mt. Kenya.
