After the night on the plane, we were able to sleep in at the hotel today.
At the breakfast buffet, we noticed that many cultures converge here - there was pretty much everything, from baguette with jam and cornflakes to omelet and pancakes, baked beans and sausages to noodle soup, fried rice, and chicken in various forms. Only honey was nowhere to be found - this only bothered one of the fellow travelers a little.

After we had sufficiently fortified ourselves, we set off into the city. Since the hotel is quite centrally located, we quickly found ourselves in the midst of the hustle and bustle. The traffic is quite adventurous, and it takes a bit of courage to cross the street always hoping that the many mopeds will stop or swerve.

We walked through the city center through Pasar Beringharjo to Vredenburg. This former fortress of the Dutch is now a museum for Indonesia's independence.

Bazaar

From there, we continued walking to the Kraton, which we did not visit since it is included in our tour tomorrow.

Alun-Alun Lor Square

On the way back, we also found a small 'shop' where we got a SIM card. Initially, we were very skeptical because the owner intercepted us at the market and led us through two side alleys. But everything worked out, we only had to pay after he ensured that everything was functioning.

At 2:30 PM we were back at the hotel. Due to the temperatures of 31°C and the high humidity, none of us were hungry, but a piece of cake and a coffee were fine.

Ginger tea and blue tea in the hotel lobby

After a short rest and refreshment in the air-conditioned hotel room, we walked from the hotel again north to the train station. Actually, we were still looking for a supermarket to buy drinks, but there were only small shops everywhere that had only small drink bottles. Upon returning to the hotel, we then saw a supermarket right next to the hotel.

Signage on the footpath
Before having dinner in the hotel restaurant, we went to the pool. At 27°C, it was pleasantly refreshing.

At 7 PM, dinner was served at the hotel. This was already part of our booked tour, and we enjoyed the 4-course menu on the terrace.

Afterwards, we took another short walk to the city center. Even though it was busy there this morning - now this hustle and bustle was exceeded - there were plenty of mopeds and pedestrians around.

Around 9:30 PM, we were back at the hotel.
