Day 17: Island Hopping Around Lombok

Once again, we were able to take it relatively easy today. At 8:30 AM, our guide picked us up, and we drove to the small harbor in Tawun. The trip took about 1.5 hours for approximately 60 km, which is typical for this area. Lombok has relatively little tourism, and the infrastructure rebuild after the last earthquake has been supported by the government (e.g., there is a four-lane road through the island's capital, despite significantly less traffic than in Bali), yet overall progress remains slow.

At the harbor, we boarded a outrigger boat. This first took us to the tiny island of Gili Kedis.

This mini-island measures about 40x40 meters. Around the island, there are reefs, so we spent our time there snorkeling.

After about an hour, we continued on to the neighboring island of Gili Nanggu. Here too, we could see many fish while snorkeling.

Lunch was then served on Gili Tangkong right on the beach.

Afterward, the boat took us back to the harbor. From there, we returned to the hotel.

While enjoying a cocktail, we watched the sunset.

For dinner, we went back to a nearby local restaurant.
